In Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, a church has been demolished that was targeted by the government. The pastor of the church, who was streaming the demolition on social media, was also arrested.

The Cuban State Security brought machinery and bulldozers to the Assemblies of God Church in the Abel Santamaria last Friday and destroyed the church.

Christian Solidarity Wolrdwide (CSW) said that the church has been threatened since 2015 in spite of the fact that the denomination is the biggest in Cuba and is legally recognised by the Government.

Pastor Alain Toledano recorded the government attack on the church and broadcast it on Facebook through his mobile phone.
He dropped the phone when he was approached by police in civilian clothes. although the video was cut, the bulldozers and the church members singing could be heard in the stream.

Pastor Toledano, a leader of the unregistered denomination the Apostolic Movement, was the arrested and taken to the Motorizada Police Station. According to CSW he is being kept incommunicado.

According to the government, the demolition is part of the creation of train tracks, however CSW said that the church was the only building to be demolished.
