Let The Oppressed Go Free

-

Leviticus 25:10: And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.

To be oppressed means to crack in pieces, struggle, be bruised or crushed. The oppressed are those who are dominated by others. They act against their will to please others. People act in ways that give them a feeling of superiority over those they oppress.

Their victims cannot express their opinions on issues. Like sheep led to the slaughter, they cannot open their mouths. The oppressed are denied justice and are punished for offences they don’t commit. The oppressed are dehumanized people.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ restores dignity to people. It makes them new creatures who have no less value than anyone else. That is what being born again is all about. The devil is the chief agent of oppression. People around the world are experiencing forms of oppression doctors and psychologists cannot explain.

The world acknowledges the existence of physical oppression but deny the reality of spiritual oppression. The truth however, is that spiritual oppression is more dangerous than the physical one. The Church must tackle both physical and spiritual oppression. Jesus Christ came into the world to heal those who were oppressed by the devil (Acts 10:38).

Sickness and curses are some of the means through which the devil oppresses people. The incidence of disease and the devastating effect of curses on people around the world are alarming.

Believers must be far more aggressive in employing the power of God to free people from oppression. We are armed with the power of the name of Jesus Christ, the power of the blood of Jesus Christ, the power of the Word of God and the power of the Holy Ghost.
