Nigerian Prisoners Receive Bible Degrees Through Prisoners for Christ Ministry

Nigerian prisoners are receiving Bible degrees through a ministry programme designed to provide spiritual training, discipleship, and leadership development inside correctional facilities.

Prisoners for Christ’s International Bible Institute (IBI) offers inmates the opportunity to complete Bible education courses while serving their sentences. The programme aims to help participants grow in their faith and prepare them to share the Gospel with others inside prison and after their release.

The ministry first launched its Bible training programme in Nigeria in 2018. Since then, the initiative has expanded as more correctional facilities have shown interest in the impact of the programme. Prisoners for Christ now operates similar Bible institutes in other African countries, including Ethiopia and Mozambique, as well as Pakistan.

The Bible courses provide inmates with foundational Christian teaching, evangelism training, and skills for discipleship. Graduates are equipped to encourage fellow prisoners and become spiritual leaders within their communities.

According to Prisoners for Christ, the programme has changed the atmosphere in participating prisons. Prison officers have reportedly noticed positive changes among inmates who take part in the Bible training, including improved behaviour and a greater sense of purpose.

For many participants, the programme represents more than an educational opportunity. It gives inmates confidence, a renewed identity, and the ability to share their faith with others.

Through Bible education and discipleship, Prisoners for Christ hopes to continue reaching more inmates across Nigeria and other countries. The ministry has called for prayers and support as it seeks opportunities to expand its International Bible Institute programmes.
