-

In a somber moment for the Ghanaian gospel music community, we reflect on the remarkable life and profound impact of Kofi Owusu Dua Anto, widely known as KODA, whose musical journey touched countless hearts and souls across the nation and beyond.

A Musical Prodigy’s Beginnings

Born on December 15, 1978, in Takoradi, KODA’s affinity for musical instruments was evident from a young age. Under the guidance of his mother, he began his musical education at the tender age of 10, mastering the guitar and laying the foundation for a career that would resonate with the sounds of heaven.

A Journey of Musical Excellence

As KODA’s talents flourished, he embarked on a journey that would see him become a stalwart of the Ghanaian gospel music scene. From his days as the mass choir director at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to his pivotal role in gospel groups such as “Da Project,” KODA’s influence was felt far and wide.

A Producer and Collaborator Extraordinaire

Beyond his own musical endeavors, KODA made an indelible mark as a producer and collaborator, working with esteemed artists such as Nii Okai, Pastor Joseph Gyebi, Danny Nettey, and many others. His keen ear for melody and his ability to bring out the best in his fellow musicians cemented his reputation as a visionary producer and an invaluable contributor to the Ghanaian music industry.

A Discography of Inspiration

Throughout his career, KODA released six albums that served as a soundtrack for the Christian journey. From the soul-stirring melodies of “Nyame Beye” to the prophetic declarations of “OXYGEN,” his music spoke to the hearts of believers and seekers alike, drawing them closer to the heart of God.

A Teacher and Mentor

As a music tutor, KODA shared his knowledge and passion with aspiring musicians, releasing instructional DVDs and live concert recordings that continue to inspire and educate to this day. His commitment to nurturing the next generation of musical talent reflected his generous spirit and his desire to see others excel in their gifts.

A Family Man and Beloved Husband

In addition to his musical accomplishments, KODA cherished his role as a husband to Ewurama Dua Anto and a father to their three children. His love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and his legacy lives on in the hearts of those closest to him.

A Farewell to a Gospel Icon

On Sunday, April 21, 2024, KODA’s earthly journey came to an end after a brief illness. While we mourn the loss of a beloved musician, we take comfort in the knowledge that his music and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. Rest in peace, Augustine Kofi Dua Anto.
