“And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” – Matthew 16:19
Jesus in interaction with his disciples wanted to find out how spiritually sharp they were so he posed to them a question; “who do you say that I am?” Peter under the influence of the Holy Spirit exclaimed “the Christ, the Son of the living God”. This excited Jesus so much he began to prophesy over Peter.
Peter’s insight is what merited these mighty declarations from Jesus in the scripture above. When you catch a revelation of Jesus, you become weightier in the spirit. Out of nowhere, Peter the fisherman now carried power to bind and loose with the backing of heaven.
The revelation of Jesus comes with spiritual maturity and authority that gives you the power to preach the Word, intercede in prayer and win souls for Christ.
Paul, in Acts 9, was on his way to Damascus to look for believers to arrest and persecute when Jesus met and changed his life. After this encounter, he “immediately preached about Christ in the synagogues.” (Acts 9:20). A man who hated the Gospel so much that he killed people because of it; where did he all of a sudden have revelations to start preaching? It was an encounter with Jesus!
After an encounter with Jesus, you naturally desire to learn more and spend more time in his presence, leading you deeper into the supernatural and building up your spiritual capacity. Today I pray that you shall become weightier in the spirit! May you receive authority and power that will cause the enemy to fear you.
