The Anglican Church – History

0

The name “Anglican” means “of England”, but the Anglican church exists worldwide. It began in the sixth century in England, when Pope Gregory the Great sent St. Augustine to Britain to bring a more disciplined Apostolic succession to the Celtic Christians.

The Anglican Church evolved as part of the Roman church, but the Celtic influence was folded back into the Roman portion of the church in many ways, perhaps most notably by Charlemagne’s tutor Aidan. The Anglican church was spread worldwide first by English colonization and then by English-speaking missionaries.

The Anglican church, although it has apostolic succession, is separate from the Roman church. The history of Christianity has produced numerous notable separations. In 1054 came the first major split from Roman administration of the church, when the Eastern Orthodox church and the Roman split apart.

The conflict of authority in England between church and state certainly dates back to the arrival of Augustine, and has simmered for many centuries. The murder of Thomas a Becket was one of the more famous episodes of this conflict. The Magna Carta, signed by King John in 1215, contains 63 points; the very first point is a declaration that the English church is independent of its government..

Discontent with Roman administration of the church.

The beginning of the sixteenth century showed significant discontent with the Roman church. Martin Luther’s famous 95 Theses were nailed to the door of the church in Wittenburg in 1517, and news of this challenge had certainly reached England when, 20 years later, the Anglican branch of the church formally challenged the authority of Rome. Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries and abbeys in 1536.

There is a public perception, especially in the United States, that Henry VIII created the Anglican church in anger over the Pope’s refusal to grant his divorce, but the historical record indicates that Henry spent most of his reign challenging the authority of Rome, and that the divorce issue was just one of a series of acts that collectively split the English church from the Roman church in much the same way that the Orthodox church had split off five hundred years before.

Defining the new church

The newly-separated Anglican church was given some formal structure in 1562 during the reign of Elizabeth I. That structure is not a management process or governing organization. What binds us together is not common administration but shared tradition and shared belief. Our belief is written down in the Holy Bible and the Articles of Religion; our tradition is in part embodied in our Book of Common Prayer. The first Book of Common Prayer was produced in 1549. In it the Latin liturgy was radically simplified and translated into English, and for the first time a single ‘use’ was enforced throughout England. It has been revised numerous times since then, the most significant revision being the first, in 1552. All revisions since then, before the modern era, were very conservative revisions. The 1662 English Book of Common Prayer forms the historical basis for most Anglican liturgy around the world. While several countries have their own prayer books, all borrow heavily from the English tradition rooted in Cranmer’s original work.

Further Information

Church history has been an important part of the cultural history of every nation, and through the centuries thousands of books have been written about it. Every library and every encyclopedia will cover it to some degree. An informative online starting point for learning more about the history of the Anglican Church is The Anglican Timeline, produced by the American physician Ed Friedlander, MD. It lists several hundred notable events in the history of the Anglican church, with large numbers of links to reference materials and primary sources.

Healing Jesus Campaign Ends in Tanzania

0

After 4 days of salvation, healing and amazing miracles and testimonies, the Healing Jesus Campaign with Evangelist Dag Heward-Mills came to an end on Friday 16th of November 2018.

The crusade perhaps the only one of its kind to be held in Tanzania in recent times was held in Dar-es-Salaam, the capital.

On this last day, many more people run to the front to give their lives to Christ and many miracles were witnessed by the expectant crowd.

The Message of Salvation Was Preached

The miracles and healing had the crowds jumping, shouting and clapping to the glory of God.

The pastors and church workers were not left out during this campaign in Tanzania. The evangelist operates under a heavy anointing for raising pastors and leaders in the ministry and many pastors received training and encouragement during the morning Pastors’ Conferences.

Dar Es Salaam will never be the same!!!

‘God Is Surely Moving In This Nation’: Christian Musicians Worship Jesus At The White House

0

Several worship leaders and Christian artists have posted footage of a spontaneous praise session that took place in the White House yesterday. The “Faith Briefing” meeting was designed to give an update on all the faith-based initiatives that have been introduced by the Trump administration.

In one clip posted by Christian singer Tauren Wells, a group of worship leaders can be seen belting out “What a Beautiful Name” by Hillsong Worship.

Bethel Music’s director of events, Dominic Shahbon, also took to social media to express his delight at the occasion.

“Wow. What a day,” he wrote on Instagram. “Had the honor to go the White House for a #FaithBriefing with key administration officials and faith leaders. Specifically, to hear about faith initiatives that are happening. Great things are taking place whether the media tells us or not! Let’s just say that I’m leaving Washington, D.C. stirred, hopeful, convicted and informed with TRUTH.

“God is surely moving in this nation and through His Church,” Shahbon continued. “Let’s be a people that are not letting a day go by without praying for our President and this incredible administration. Thank you @paulamichellewhite for all you do and for helping making this happen. It’s truly powerful to watch and I’m moved beyond words.”

The gathering appeared to be organized by Pastor Paula White, a megachurch pastor from Florida and the chair of President Trump’s faith advisory board. White’s husband is former “Journey” keyboard player, Paul Cain, who was also in attendance.

Salvation And Miracles Burst Out In Port Harcourt, Nigeria

0

The Christ for all Nations Crusade in Port Harcourt started on the morning of November 8th at the residence of the governor of the city. The chamber was filled with state officials and leaders.

Evangelist Daniel Kolenda preached a clear Gospel message and invited them to receive Christ, to which several responded!

Then with the media present, the governor encouraged all the people in his state to attend the Crusade. On the first night the governor also attended the crusade together with his wife.

Despite many challenges and intense spiritual warfare, the meetings began as planned. Eddie James and his team led a powerful time of worship and then the Gospel was preached. There was an overwhelming response to the message. Afterwards there was prayer for the sick and we heard amazing testimonies.

There were two individuals, one man and one woman, who were both totally deaf in one ear for years. Both of them were completely healed. The woman wept tears of joy on the platform as she was tested!

On the 2nd Night, the Evangelist preached on the blood of Jesus and then broke curses in Jesus’ name. There were amazing testimonies that followed.

A man who was totally deaf in both ears for 5 years, said that he suddenly heard a cracking noise and felt a scratching in his ears. Suddenly, if felt as if something came out of his ears and he could hear perfectly! As he told what God had done for him, he fell to his knees and began to weep and sing a song of thanksgiving to God.

A woman was brought up to the platform by a local pastor. As soon as the crowd saw her on the jumbo screens, they began to shout. The woman was a local insane lady who was well known because she used to walk around the area naked and out of her mind. As she stood before us, she was clothed and in her right mind. She testified that Jesus had touched her and now she was able to understand. The crowd went wild.

The last two days of our Gospel Crusade in Port Harcourt, Nigeria were a little taste of heaven on earth! The massive crowd was heaving during praise and worship. Locals told us that they had never seen such a crowd in Port Harcourt before. The governor, his wife and several top officials sat on the platform each night.

10 Keys To A Strong Family

0

There are many family counselors and books on relationships, but do those resources offer the best advice for building and maintaining a strong family? Many people do not realize that the Bible is God’s resource to us and has much to say about relationships.

According to the most authoritative word on the matter, the Bible, the keys to a prosperous family are:

1. Fear (holy reverence) of the Lord.

2. Providing for your family by working.

Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways. When you eat the labor of your hands, you shall be happy, and it shall be well with you. Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, your children like olive plants all around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord.

Psalm 128:1-4, NKJV

3. A prudent wife—one who is cautious and careful, wise, and gives attention to her family.

Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.
Proverbs 19:14, NKJV

4. A virtuous wife—one who has strength (in character, emotions, and mental) and who works with efficiency in all things, so as not to waste resources, like time and money. She is also kind, speaks only words of wisdom (not complaints), and is good (pleasant and agreeable).

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil … And willingly works with her hands. She also rises while it is yet night, And provides food for her household … She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

Proverbs 31:10-13, 15, 26–28, NKJV

5. Husband and wife who are affectionate to one another.

Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

I Corinthians 7:3, NKJV

6. Wives who submit to their husbands—allowing the husband to lead the family by setting a godly example through his demeanor, words, and actions.

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

Ephesians 5:22-24, NKJV

7. Husbands who love their wives as themselves, and wives who respect their husbands.

So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself . . . and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Ephesians 5:28, 33

8. Husbands who honor their wives by reacting to their needs with understanding and gentleness.

Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

I Peter 3:7

9. Children who obey their parents, and parents who teach them according to the Word of God.

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth. And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.

Ephesians 6:1-4

10. Fathers who console, comfort, encourage, and strengthen their children.

As you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charge every one of you, as a father does his own children,

I Thessalonians 2:11

Say this faith declaration out loud: Father, just as my family is important to me, I know that they are important to You. Please bless and strengthen my family, that we may be a strong, cohesive unit—one that follows Your ways, and prospers in everything we do.

The Church Of Pentecost Theme For 2019 Outdoored

The 2019 theme of The Church of Pentecost is: “I Will Build My Church” taken from Matthew 16:18; Titus 2:13-14.

It was unveiled by the Chairman of the Church, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, at the 2018 November Heads’ Meeting underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), at Gomoa Fetteh on Wednesday 14th November 2018.

2018 November Heads’ Meeting

Next year’s theme, according to the Chairman, is the first part of Vision 2023, with the overarching theme, “Possessing the Nations: Equipping the Church to transform every sphere of society with values and principles of the Kingdom of God.” The five-year strategic vision of the Church was unveiled on Monday, November 12, 2018.

“This theme is to help awaken Ministers, local leaders and the entire church towards freshness in our worship life and to march out in the power of the Holy Spirit to possess the nations with the values and principles of the Kingdom of God,” he stressed.

Explaining the purpose of the 2019 theme, Apostle Nyamekye mentioned that the theme is to “help bring to the fore the understanding of the dual identity of the Church; that the Church is called out of the world to belong to God and sent back to the world to witness about Christ and serve humanity.”

He stated that for the members ‘to go’ and the Church ‘to send’ as Jesus commands in John 20:21, “there is the need for freshness in our understanding of the Church as the Embassy of God’s Kingdom, expected to be a true representative of God by bringing transformation not only to communities but to the nations.”

According to him, if the Church is able to rediscover its identity as originally given by God in the scriptures, and made alive and relevant by the Spirit of God, “we could be in the most exciting times in the history of the Church.”

He explained that everything depends on the Christians’ ability to understand the Church as it ought to be, on their willingness to change where necessary, and their determination to keep their lives continually opened to spiritual freshness.

According to Apostle Nyamekye, The Church of Pentecost both nationally and internationally has become a respected institution following the great work done by the founding fathers and the great leaders it has had over the years.

He however stated: “When we match our achievements with the standards set by the early church (Acts 2:42-47), and what God can do through us; we come to the realization that there is more to be done.”

Chronicles Of Crusade In Tanzania Continued – Day 2

0

Yesterday was the second day of the Dar Es Salaam crusade with Evangelist Dag Heward-Mills i and his crusade team. the profound message of salvation was brought home so effectively with great power and anointing.

It was therefore not surprising to once again see the crowds in their thousands lifting up their hands to pray to receive Jesus, God confirming the preaching of his word with signs and wonders and miracles following.

A lady had a huge tumor under her breast for 2 years. This made it appear as though she had 3 breasts. As the Evangelist prayed, she fell down and when she got up the tumor had completely disappeared. What a miracle!!!

A lady had swellings of both feet as a result of a kidney disease. After the prayer by the Evangelist, her feet suddenly shrunk.

Another man couldn’t stand nor walk without a stick for about 4 years. After the prayer he suddenly could stand and walk without needing to use the stick. Glory to God.
This lady came to the crusade grounds with a condition known as Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM). She experienced severe headache consistently. She also had a lump in her breast. After the prayers, the pain in her head suddenly stopped and the lump in her breast also vanished. What a Blessing!!!
Evangelist Dag Heward-Mills
Many Were Shocked By The Miracles
Many More Were Delivered From Satan’s Power

The question is how many of such crusades still go on today and in which cities?

Charismata News will follow this crusade with keen interest and bring you more updates.

God Sent Donald Trump To Prepare The Church For The End Times – Jim Bakker

0

Christian End Times prepper Jim Bakker said that God told him He put Donald Trump on this earth to give the church time to prepare for the impending end.

On a television broadcast, the well-known End Time prepper asked the audience if they had ever seen so much hatred for a political leader. Bakker said, “Have you ever seen a time when we hate our president like the people do now?” He added, “Literally half the nation hates the president and would probably kill him if they got a chance.”

During the broadcast, Bakker noted that he prayed to God asking Him why the current climate is as hostile as it is.

The Jim Bakker Show

According to the televangelist, God answered him by pointing to the book of Revelation. Bakker said God told him “you are in Revelation, Chapter 6,” which speaks of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. According to the End Times prepper, God told him that the first horse of the Apocalypse is beginning to ride on the earth.

Bakker said, “There is such a hatred for the gospel. This is the Antichrist spirit loose,” and for this reason, “God has given us a man who is not afraid to fight. We have a president people think is crazy. They call him crazy, but he’s making peace treaties, he’s doing all the things to try to solve the world’s problems and God has put him on earth—God spoke to me the other night, He said, ‘I put Donald Trump on earth to give you time, the church, to get ready.’’

US President Donald Trump
“This is what He told me,” Bakker proclaimed. “He said, ‘Donald Trump is a respite in this troubled times and I sent him in grace to give you time to prepare for what’s coming on earth.’
