Billy Graham: I Want It Now PT. 1

0

I once saw a big ad in the newspaper that said, “I want it now.” What it meant was that you get it now and pay for it later. That’s the way most of us buy things these days. We’re living in a period that I think may go down in history as “the instant civilization.”

Instant coffee. Instant soup, instant meals in microwave ovens—everything is instant. We don’t want to work for it. We don’t want to wait for it. We don’t want to do it God’s way. We want it now.

This is what Esau said. He came in from the field, and he was hungry. He saw his brother with some stew, and he said, “I want some of that.” His brother, Jacob, said, “If you’ll give me your birthright, I’ll give you some stew” (see Genesis 25:29-34).

Now the birthright meant everything. But Esau was so hungry that he sold his birthright to his brother in order to “get it now.”

Once, when Israel was at war, David didn’t go and lead the battle as he normally did. He stayed at home. While he was in his palace, he looked across and saw a beautiful woman taking a bath. And he said, “I want her; I want her now.” She was another man’s wife.

David was a man after God’s own heart—a man of God. And yet he had her husband killed. He was guilty of murder and adultery. He tried to cover it up, until Nathan the prophet went to him and said, “You are the man!” (2 Samuel 12:7). Then David began to confess and to repent. But he never really recovered his stature again. Something was lacking in his life from that moment on.

David’s son Absalom said the same thing. He said, “I don’t want to wait for my father to die, when I may have a chance of inheriting the throne. I want to be king now.” So he led a rebellion against his father.

In Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son, there was a father with two sons. And the younger lad knew he had an inheritance coming. About a third of his father’s estate would go to him, and two-thirds to his older brother. He didn’t like it on the farm, so he asked for his inheritance. He said, “I want it now.”

And he got it. He spent it on riotous living, and he ended up in a pigpen, empty and disillusioned. All of his friends had left him.

You see, the devil also pays wages. Serve the devil, and he’ll pay you. He’ll hold out to you the most beautiful promises you have ever heard. Satan’s offer is always clothed in the most beautiful, sparkling wrapping. But he is a liar and the father of lies, according to the Lord Jesus Christ.

And the devil may be lying to you right now. He’s whispering in your ear. He’s telling you that his way is better than God’s way. But so many people, with seemingly everything to live for, die disillusioned and despairing, fearful and bitter. Satan promises the world; but he gives an empty heart, an empty and lost soul. And you end up in judgment and hell as the result.

Many people seek instant pleasure instead of true happiness. A famous movie star said in a television interview, “You know, I only wanted to find a little bit of happiness. And I’d find a little of it here and there, but not much.”

One of the world’s great ballet dancers, at the end of an interview, looked down and said, “You know, I’m really searching for my spiritual self. I really don’t know who I am.”

Do you know who you are? Have you found your spiritual self? Do you have such a relationship with Jesus Christ that there’s a joy and a peace and a happiness in your life, and forgiveness of sin and a knowledge that if you died at this moment, you would go to Heaven? Do you know that? If you don’t know that, you can make sure today.

You say, “Well, I’m a member of the church. I’ve been confirmed.” But down deep in your heart, you know that Christ is not your Lord and Savior. Because Lord and Savior must go together. Lord means king. It means that Jesus is on the throne of your life, in every area of your life.

Jesus Resurrection Is Proof Of Our Salvation – Apostle Nyamekye Declares

0

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has said that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is divine proof of the salvation of believers in God.

“This is the reason why Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, no one can come to the Father, except through Him.”

The Chairman said this on Sunday, April 2023, during the Resurrection Sunday service to climax the Berekum Area Easter convention held at the Omanhene Park in Berekum.

Delivering the sermon on, “Always Remember That Jesus Christ, A Descendant of David Was Raised From the Dead,” he mentioned that the knowledge that Jesus Christ, a descendant of David, was raised from the dead is the truth of the gospel which is centered on Jesus.

Reading 2 Timothy 2:8, he explained that Paul sought to convey to Timothy the fact that the resurrection of Christ is the foundation of Christianity and the Christian ministry; the sustaining power of the ministry and the Christian life, and the cause of effective ministry and Christianity.

“Jesus is not the founder of Christianity but the Saviour of the world. This very act of the resurrection sets Him apart from every other religious guru and makes Christianity an exclusive religion,” Apostle Nyamelye stated.

Apostle Nyamekye, who is also the President of Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), said the fact that Jesus was a descendant of King David means “we are not committed to a theory or a course but to a person, Jesus Christ.”

He advised Christians to talk to God in their moments of trouble, confusion and difficulties because Jesus has been raised from the dead. He added that Jesus’ resurrection makes the Christian’s faith in God not futile, saying, “As Jesus was raised from death so shall we also be raised at His appearing. His resurrection ushered us into the things of God – unto a new and powerful life.”

He concluded: “The resurrection of Jesus has given us the strength to persevere and be confident of His provision and authority to deal effectively with the power of darkness.”

Apostle & Wife Miraculously Saved From Stray Bullet

0

The Anyaa-Ablekuma Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle William Ohemeng-Kwakye, and his wife, Comfort, were miraculously saved from a stray bullet that made its way into the Area Mission House.

The spectacular incident happened on Sunday, January 15, 2023, few moments after Apostle Ohemeng-Kwakye had returned home from a series of Church meetings.

Speaking to PENTECOST NEWS, the Area Head said that, while on his way home, he heard a voice whisper to him the statement: “No weapon formed against you shall stand.”

He, therefore, reached for his Bible and read the text as written in Isaiah 54:17: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the LORD.”

According to him, he reflected over the scripture over and over until he got to the Mission House.

At home, Apostle Ohemeng-Kwakye and his wife retired to bed at about 11:00pm after praying with the family.

“While lying on the bed and studying from my iPad, I suddenly felt the urge to move from the bed to the other side of the room,” he recounted.

He instantly obliged and sat on a bedside desk to continue his study.

Soon afterwards, a stray bullet from an unknown source penetrated the roofing sheet into the master bedroom onto the bed – close to the place he was studying.

The loud blast which accompanied the bullet woke Mrs Ohemeng-Kwakye up from her sleep.

“She began screaming thinking that it was the iPad that had exploded. But by God’s grace, no one was harmed,” he said.

The issue was reported at the Anyaa District Police Command, and a team led by the District Commander visited the mission house to assess the situation.

In furtherance to that, a team of experts was sent from the Police Headquarters, Accra, to also examine the situation, but no scientific proof was established.

It was later detected that the bullet penetrated the roofing sheet and the POP ceiling before landing on the bed.

“What makes the whole situation complex is that the mission house is a two-storey building, but it is surrounded by single-storey buildings, so we do not know how one could have shot into the building from the top,” he said.

The security personnel expressed dismay at the whole situation and thanked God for the mighty deliverance.

Apostle Nyamekye Chairs ‘Global Crusade With Kumuyi’ Ghana Media Launch

0

The President-elect of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye, who also doubles as the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, chaired the media launch of the Global Crusade with Kumuyi (GCK), Ghana edition on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

The event was hosted by the Deeper Life Bible Church, Ghana, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). Several Christian leaders drawn from various denominations attended the event, offering messages of solidarity on behalf of their denominations.

Among them were Senior Bishop James K. Saah (Christian Action Faith Ministries), Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh (Lawrence Tetteh Ministries), Most Rev. Dr. Paul K. Boafo (Presiding Bishop, Methodist Church Ghana), Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso (immediate past President of GPCC and General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana), Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee (Executive Director, Salt & Light Ministries), Rev. Dr. Stephen Yenusom Wengham (General Superintendent, Assemblies of God, Ghana), Most Rev. Helena Opoku-Sarkodie (Minister-in-charge, Tema Joint Church), among others.

In his opening response, Apostle Nyamekye expressed his pleasure at the sight of believers coming together regardless of denominational barriers. He lauded the General Superintendent and founder of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor Dr. William F. Kumuyi, the convener of the ‘Global Crusade with Kumuyi’, for his crusade outreach across the African continent.

“As a genuine servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, he has over the years proven the authenticity of his ministry with tangible global impact. For several decades, he has led the gospel train both in Africa and the rest of the world,” he stated.

He added: “I have always held on the belief that no one denomination is the exclusive channel of God’s grace. We are all tributaries of the river of God carrying diverse grace. Again, the Great Commission cannot be fulfilled by only one denomination.”

Apostle Nyamekye further urged Christian leaders to break down denominational barriers that do not support the propagation of the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.

He called on all Christian denominations to support the upcoming crusade to make it successful.

10 Cities, 10 Gospel Campaigns

0

This is the second Operation Decapolis in Zambia, and the first time that we’ll be doing 10 full Gospel Campaigns in one country in two weeks. This time, there is a strong focus on Lusaka, the nation’s capital. This is, by far, the most populated place in all of Zambia. It is a very large and spread-out metropolis.

Our strategy to take Lusaka for Jesus is to have 6 Gospel campaigns in different areas of the city. We want every resident of Lusaka to know what’s coming, and to be able to easily attend a Gospel Campaign wherever they live.

Not only are we going ahead with the next Operation Decapolis in Zambia in April, but this will be our first full Decapolis, 10 five-night campaigns in 10 different venues. That’s a total of 50 meetings – and all in just two weeks. This is what we have been building up to for the last couple of years, expanding our team, our equipment and our expertise to meet the challenge.

This is a strategy that works. In the past two years, CfaN has held 21 Decapolis campaigns across Tanzania and Zambia. We have seen more than 2.7 million in attendance, with 956,980 documented salvations. We are expecting this 10-city push to be the biggest Operation Decapolis yet. In faith, we are preparing our follow-up system (with the local churches) to handle over a million new converts. Isn’t that exciting?

We traveled approximately 730 kilometers south from Nairobi to reach Zambia, but some of us still have over 2500 kilometers to cover before arriving at our final destination.

The Home: An Institution For Child Training – By Pastor Faith Oyedepo (Pt.1)

0

The home is the most important institution in the world. It is the first department in which a child learns to become a proper citizen – a man or woman of dignity and value. By home, I mean primarily the members of the family or more specifically, the father and mother.

Among the institutions for child training, the home has the largest share of the responsibilities. If the home fails, the Church, society and the school will be greatly affected. Many atrocities all over the world today, are a direct result of improper home training.

Drug addicts, armed robbers and fraudsters all have a family, because nobody dropped from the sky. Every living being today came from a family. If the respective families that make up a society fail to carry out their responsibilities, then the children which are products of the family will become dregs of the society. “Charity begins at home,” they say.

It is also important to understand that child raising in the home should be allowed to follow a natural process. While the formal method of training is good, you must use every opportunity that presents itself in the home to communicate morals across to the child. These include: mealtimes, when you are in the kitchen together, in the sitting room or even before bedtime. All these times that you may count as informal can be used to train a child.

It is in this atmosphere of love that the Holy Spirit is able to move freely, and the destiny of the child is easily realised. Thus, it is time to work on the atmosphere of your home and make it conducive for the Holy Spirit to move. God cannot dwell in a place where there is strife, fighting, envy and bitterness. Where such things are found, there will be room for all kinds of evil. The Bible says: For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work (James 3:16).

The question you must answer is, “What kind of home do I have?” Is it a place of healing or centre of gossip, where you criticise everybody in your Church or office? I discovered something amazing in Jeremiah 22:29, which says: O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD. Do you know that even the ground of your home absorbs what you say? So, when you abuse people, backbite or gossip, the ground is absorbing the words of your mouth! In other words, the words of your mouth are seeds being sown into your ground. Unfortunately, you are the one doing the sowing, but it is not only you who reaps it; your children also do. May you be a sower of good seeds!

Most importantly, the place of a woman in raising a child can never be overemphasised. This is because, to a large extent, it is the woman who determines the atmosphere of the home. Do you know that just by entering a home, you can feel the atmosphere in it? If there is bitterness, envy, strife, etc, you can sense it. However, where there is peace, love and joy, it is easy to tell also.

We are told that Napoleon Bonarparte, was asked what the greatest need of France was. He said, “Good mothers!” If I am asked what the greatest need of this generation is, I will also say the same. This is our greatest need because irrespective of your efforts on the adults of today, if you don’t raise responsible children, tomorrow might be bleak! So, child raising is an important aspect of the society.

However, until you are born again, you don’t have what it takes to make child’s training conducive. To be born again, you have to confess your sins and accept Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord. If you are ready for this new birth experience, please say this prayer in faith: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

Cardinal Cupich Asks For Prayers For Pope Francis

0

The Archbishop of Chicago asks believers of all faiths to remember Pope Francis in their prayers as he recovers from a pulmonary infection in hospital. The Pope’s health is improving after he was taken to hospital yesterday, the Vatican has confirmed.

He was admitted to Gemelli Hospital on Wednesday, for what was initially said to be a scheduled check-up.

In a statement on Thursday, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni said treatment for the 86-year-old pontiff was continuing.

“His Holiness Pope Francis rested well during the night,” he said.

“This morning after breakfast, he read some newspapers and resumed work.”

He added that he then went to the chapel of the hospital, where he prayed and received the Eucharist.

As Pope Francis continues medical treatment for his pulmonary infection in Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago has asked people of all faiths to keep the Pope in their prayers.

“When you go to bed tonight, remember the Pope and say a prayer. And that’s for people of all faiths, because I know that he is respected and loved by so many people throughout the world,” the U.S. Cardinal said.

According to a Holy See Press Office statement released Thursday , his health is improving as he undergoes treatment .

“He’s a very stubborn individual and he is going to do everything possible to show up,” Cardinal Cupich, who is one of Pope Francis’ key advisors, said. “He’s a person who has showed up, is showing up his whole life and he’s going to do that now. So, I think, don’t count him out.”

In a tweet posted on Thursday Pope Francis said he is touched by the many messages pouring from around the worlds and expressed his gratitude “for the closeness and prayers” reaching him.
