Former Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Dr Michael Kwabena Ntumy, together with 36 other ministers of the Church, are set to retire from active ministerial service by September 2023 after serving the Lord and the Church in various capacities.

In his State-of-the-Church Address delivered at the opening session of the 46th General Council Meetings underway at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Gomoah Fetteh near Kasoa, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church, observed that the ministers had attained the statutory retiring age of 65 years.

“After years of serving the Lord and His Church, some of our ministers will retire from active service this year. It is my singular honour to present them to The Council as follows,” Apostle Nyamekye said while congratulating and thanking them for their service to the Church.

The whole 5000-seater Joseph Egyir Paintsil auditorium of the PCC went agog with Special Guest of Honour, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Councilors, Heads of Churches in Ghana, and other guests rising amidst shouts of joy and gratitude to God at the mention of Apostle Dr Michael Kwabena Ntumy, who served the Church for 39 years and also in the highest capacity as Chairman at the age of 40, between 1998 and 2008.

Demonstrating brotherly love, respect and unity in the body of Christ, almost all the people in the auditorium stood and applauded in honour of the revered former Chairman.

The other 36 ministers include Apostles David Tettey Tekper (Achimota Area Head, 37 years), Dr Ben Ali (Downtown Ofaakor Area Head, 33 years), Emmanuel Gyesi-Addo (Haatso Area Head and Immediate Past International Missions Director, 32 years), Jones Awuah Afrifa (Dunkwa Area Head, 30 years) and Moses Kwame Ahiakor (Hohoe Area Head, 29 years).

Billy Graham: Why Does God Allow Suffering?

0

With mass shootings and natural disasters filling the headlines, it’s normal to wonder why a sovereign God allows suffering. Ground yourself in these Bible-based truths Billy Graham once shared.

On Nov. 21, 1980, when the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas burned, survivors were brought into the Convention Center, where our Crusade meetings were being held. In an interview, Governor Robert List talked about the good times at the MGM only 24 hours before. “And how quickly,” he said, “the music has stopped.”

Some day, for all of you, if you don’t know God, the music will stop. It will all be over. The Bible says, “It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).

The Bible says that Job suddenly lost all of his wealth and his children. The devil said to God, “If You take all those possessions away from him, he’ll curse You and turn from You.” But God replied, “You can do anything to him, except you can’t kill him, and then we’ll see” (Cf. Job 1:11–12).

Job never asked why those things were happening to him. The closest he ever came was when he said, “Show me why You contend with me” (Job 10:2). Job was sharing his agony of spirit with the very God he could not understand.

Suffering carries a message of mystery. The Bible says, “Great is the mystery of godliness” (1 Timothy 3:16). When I was asked to explain the tragedy of the fire at the MGM Grand Hotel, I had to say, “There’s a mystery to tragedies like this. We don’t know the answer.” And we may never know until God explains all things to us.

For humans, there is a mystery as to why God created the earth. There is a mystery as to why He put people on this earth. But God has revealed answers through the Bible and through the person of His Son Jesus Christ. In the Bible you will find the answers to the questions and the problems of your life.

But man rebelled against God. Man said, “I don’t need You, God. I can build my world without You.” God said, “If you take that position, you will suffer and die.” Man took that position, and he began to suffer, and he has been dying ever since. Physical death is just the death of the body, but the spirit lives on. If your spirit is separated from God for eternity, it will be lost forever.

The Bible teaches that Satan is the author of sin. Sin is the reason that we have afflictions, including death. All of our problems and our suffering, including death itself, are a result of man’s rebellion against God. But God has provided a rescue in the person of His Son Jesus Christ. That’s why Christ died on the cross. That’s why He rose from the dead.

Apostle Nyamekye Re-elected Chairman Of The Church Of Pentecost

The Church of Pentecost has re-elected Apostle Eric Nyamekye to serve as its Chairman for the next five years. This historic event took place during the Church’s 46th General Council Meetings on Thursday, May 4, 2023, where Apostle Nyamekye secured an overwhelming majority of the votes, winning 1,255 ‘YES’ votes out of the 1,262 total votes cast, representing 99.45%.

Apostle Nyamekye assumed office as the 6th Chairman of the Church in 2018, securing 98% of the total votes cast and immediately set in motion a five-year strategic vision, titled “Vision 2023,” with the overarching theme of “Possessing the Nations.”

The Vision 2023 has led to the expansion of the Church’s ministry scope, with the introduction of new ministry interventions such as the Home and Urban Missions (HUM), Ministry to Persons with Disabilities (MPWDs), Chieftaincy Ministry, Chaplaincy Ministry, School Outreach Ministry (SOM), PENSA International, and Pentecost Workers Guild (PeWG), among others.

Through these ministry interventions, many unreached persons and marginalized groups such as commercial sex workers, street dwellers, drug addicts, African migrants, expatriates, Fulanis, and Kotokolis among others, have been brought to the saving knowledge of Christ and reformed.

Under the sterling leadership of Apostle Nyamekye, The Church of Pentecost has made giant strides in ministry as well as on the national and global fronts. The Church’s membership has grown by 29.1%, from 3,257,699 to 4,203,077 worldwide, and it has won 1,151,723 souls for Christ, out of which 782,578 have been baptized in water from 2019 to 2022.

Within the same period of his administration, The Church of Pentecost has constructed 57 water facilities and spent GHS 23,313,518.93 on educational support and GHS 8,132,040.65 on health support to members.

Apostle Nyamekye’s administration has also initiated various social development projects in deprived communities and institutions across the country, including the construction of reformation centers for the Ghana Prisons Service, where the Church has completed and handed over two out of the five facilities to the Service, while the three others are at various stages of construction.

Overall, Apostle Nyamekye’s first term has been remarkable, and his re-election as Chairman of The Church of Pentecost inspires optimism for what the Lord has in store for His church in the next five years.

A Historic Harvest In Zambia

What happens when nearly 200 hard-working, highly trained evangelists arrive in a ripe harvest field, completely unified, with one heart and one mind, using the finest combine harvesting machine in the world—and they put their hand to the plow for months at a time? A historic harvest, that’s what!

After the first week of Gospel Campaigns here in Zambia I present these mind-boggling statistics to give you a taste of what I’m talking about.

  • 1,025,030 handbills (flyers) were distributed.
  • 132,500 posters were hung.
  • 1,208 billboards were advertised on.
  • 9,267 commercials played on TV and radio.
  • We granted 132 interviews on television and radio stations.
  • More than 789,000 people attended the meetings.
  • More than 97,000 people volunteered.

In addition, 197 CfaN team members (most of them volunteers) have worked day and night (some of them have been on the ground here for months) to prepare for these Gospel Campaigns.

In every city, the gospel was preached. In every city, multitudes surrendered to Christ. In every city amazing miracles took place and in every city there is great joy tonight. Rejoice with us and with heaven for the mighty harvest that is coming in. And please continue to pray for us!

Christians Share Jesus With satanists At Boston SatanCon: ‘We Showed Them Kindness, Love In The Name Of Jesus’

Christians from across America infiltrated The Satanic Temple’s SatanCon in Boston, where they met with and witnessed to atheists and satanists at what was billed as the “largest satanic gathering in history” over the weekend.

The gathering was held in downtown Boston on April 28-30, with the theme of “Hexennacht in Boston,” a German phrase that means “Witches Night in Boston.”

Evangelist Sean Feucht shared a video from the event on Twitter Sunday that showed one of the SatanCon attendees on stage ripping up pages from the Bible. Some of the Christians who were covertly ministering at the event claimed that nearly 100 people had made decisions to follow Jesus, he added. But that claim has been disputed by others.

Lynn MacAskill, one of the regional leaders in Boston for Intercessors for America (IFA), was among the Christians at the event. She told The Christian Post, “While Christians were definitely in the venue and mingling with the SatanCon attendees, we did not hear of any salvations among attendees.”

“However, we were told by several sources that Revive Boston and YWAM evangelists did record 98 salvations and at least 15 recommitments to the Lord among regular people during street evangelism,” MacAskill told CP on Tuesday.  In Feucht’s defense, MacAskill said the stories were simply “crossed,” but he was correct that Christians were in attendance at SatanCon.

“Numerous Christians from several teams did minister to SatanCon attendees though, with some great stories, so seeds were definitely sown,” she added. “God really did move as we were able to be in the venue. Everyone was peaceful and polite, and we felt God gave us specific prayer assignments, especially on Sunday, that were powerful.”

MacAskill added, “There were many opportunities to show kindness and love to those attending in the name of Jesus.” Leading up to the event, Christians from across the United States prayed for the Christians who planned to attend the gathering.

“You could definitely tell a lot of prayer had gone before us due to the peaceful nature of interactions and openness of many, though definitely not all attendees, to dialogue with believers,” MacAskill said. The IFA Boston co-leader revealed that most of the attendees were “averse to being prayed for.”

“A lot of them had been raised Christian and had been hurt or oppressed by the church, so I think that’s something we as the Body of Christ need to learn from so as not to push people away from knowing Jesus,” she continued. “Several evangelists shared with me that although they were opposing the Church, many of them smiled or their eyes softened or even shed tears when they heard the name of Jesus and that He loved them.”

Nevertheless, MacAskill believes “seeds were sown,” and now she charged believers to continue to show the love of Jesus to the world: “We need to be faithful to continue to pray that these seeds will be watered and that other Christians will be called to show the love of Jesus to these people wherever they call home.”

Franklin Graham Launches ‘God Loves You Tour’ In Maryland: ‘We Are Here To Give’

Rev. Franklin Graham kicked off the “God Loves You Tidewater Tour” on the East Coast over the weekend, where he invited people to listen to Christian music and surrender their lives to Christ.

The CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association launched his tour on Saturday, holding the first live event at the Charles County Fairgrounds in La Plata, Maryland.

In addition to Graham, the tour stops will feature live performances from the contemporary Christian music band the Newsboys and musicians Marcos Witt and Dennis Agajanian.

Following a tour stop in La Plata, on Sunday, they traveled to Timonium and then Elkton. Other stops will include Salisbury, Maryland; Portsmouth, Virginia; and Edenton, North Carolina.

A spokesperson for Graham told The Christian Post on Tuesday that more than 17,500 people attended the first three stops of the tour. Due to rain during Sunday’s event, 5,000 covered seats were offered to attendees at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium.

“I have a heart for smaller cities. It is just as important to go to these communities as it is to preach in major cities,” Graham told CP in a Tuesday statement about the tour location selections.

Graham said he and his team have already witnessed hundreds of people respond to the Good News of Jesus Christ, noting that the Gospel has a “strong impact” in smaller places.

“We are also grateful for the strong participation and support that we receive from churches and civic leaders in cities like these,” Graham stated. “They are so excited we have come to the Tidewater Region — and we are so glad to be here.”

Graham, who also serves as the CEO of the Christian charity Samaritan’s Purse, expressed gratitude for the donors who made it possible to share the Gospel and for those who have supported the tour through prayer.

“We don’t charge people to attend these events or take up any offerings when we come — we are here to give,” he said.

Around 885 churches are working with the BGEA on the six-city tour.

10 Bible Verses To Help You Remain Strong During Tough Times

0

When we feel down, the promises of God’s word can give us Christians peace and hope. If you feel this way, here are ten Bible scriptures that exhort endurance under adversity. By reading and contemplating on these verses, we will realize that there’s no burden that we cannot carry and no problem that we cannot overcome if we rely on God’s help. We will also find comfort knowing that God is always here for us.

  1. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13

This verse serves as a reminder that we are strong in Christ, and that His power enables us to overcome any challenge. Thru praying, we can ask for strength so we can remain strong no matter how difficult our problems are.

2. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” – James 1:2-3

This encourages us to view our trials as opportunities to grow in our faith and develop perseverance because sometimes, it all depends on how we view things.

3.”The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

This scripture reassures us that God will never leave us and that He is always present with us, even in our darkest hours. Isn’t that very comforting?

4. “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31

This verse reminds us that when we put our hope and trust in the Lord, He will give us the strength we need to persevere through any challenge and that with his help, nothing is impossible.

5. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28

This verse assures us that even in the midst of difficult circumstances, God is working for our ultimate good.

6. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him.” – 2 Chronicles 32:7

This reminds us that even when faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges, we can have confidence in God’s power and protection. It also tells us to continue being strong and that we shouldn’t be afraid because God is with us.

7. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

This encourages us to bring our worries and concerns to God, knowing that He cares for us and will provide for our needs. When you feel down, pray to God sincerely. Cry your heart out because He will listen.

8. “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.” – Psalm 28:7

This serves as a reminder that when we put our trust in God, He will provide the power we need to overcome any difficulties and will also provide joy to flood our hearts.

9. “Do not be afraid, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10

This verse reassures us that God is always with us and will give us the courage and assistance we need to face any difficulty.

10. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

This encourages us to uphold moral standards despite difficulties because we know that God will ultimately reward our efforts.

These verses from the Bible serve as a reminder that whatever the challenges we may face in life, we may find comfort, bravery, and hope in God’s promises. If we have confidence in Him and draw strength from Him, we can endure even the most terrible situations.

What to Do During Tough Times

Part of our lives is experiencing hardships because we are living in an unperfect world. When you encounter challenges, never give up. Aside from praying to God, seek for support from your family and friends because they can understand you the most. Do not keep all the problems on your own. It’s important to talk about it with someone because expressing our worries will help lighten the load.

Also, always remember that this doesn’t mean you do not have hope anymore. Trials are normal. Deal with it and you’ll end up strong once you overcome it. Never give up because God will not give up on you. It would also help if you memorize some of the Bible verses above so that whenever you face hardships, recite it so you can be reminded of God’s everlasting love and care.

Tony Evans, Chuck Swindoll, Donald Trump Pay Respect To Charles Stanley At legacy Celebration

Prominent Pastors Tony Evans and Chuck Swindoll, as well as former President Donald Trump, were among those who paid their respects to the late Pastor Charles Stanley at a legacy celebration held at his church on Sunday.

The service was held at First Baptist Church of Atlanta, Georgia, where Stanley served as senior pastor for nearly 50 years, and featured several musical selections and messages of remembrance given in person and via video.

Evans, the senior pastor of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship of Dallas, Texas, said in a video message that he wanted “to join the chorus of voices that are celebrating the home-going of Dr. Charles Stanley.”

“We have all been impacted, influenced and transformed by his ministry locally, nationally and internationally,” said Evans. “Through the hard times and the celebratory times, he has stood on the Word of God, preaching it week in and week out.”

“His influence is not just for the time he was here, but should long outlive that time because the Word of God was so poignant and so potent that the truth will keep marching on.”

Pastor Chuck Swindoll of Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas, gave a video message in which he said he “really admired” Stanley and how the late pastor “handled the Word of God with such ability and such charm.”

“His presentations were always lively and on target, accurate and meaningful. I give thanks for his life,” Swindoll said. “He is at home with the Lord in that perfect place, in that perfect setting with the Savior he preached and loved and knew so well.”

“We say ‘goodbye’ as Heaven says ‘hello.’”

Trump provided a video message for the celebration, giving his condolences and recounting how he “always enjoyed” Stanley’s television program and remembered meeting him during his presidency.

“I will always remember his incredible kindness and humble spirit when he met with me in the Oval Office,” Trump recounted. “As he prayed for me and the nation, I knew God was hearing that prayer.”

“God bless you, Dr. Stanley. God bless you.”

Others who spoke in person or in a video message included Pastor Robert Morris of Gateway Church, Pastor Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Dallas, the Rev. Franklin Graham of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, In Touch Ministries CEO Phillip Bowen and Pastor David Jeremiah of Shadow Mountain Community Church in El Cajon, California.

Billy Graham: I Want It Now PT. 2

0

Do you know who you really are? You’re made in the image of God. You were made to glorify God. You were made for God, and without God there’s an empty place in your life. That could be filled right now, simply by surrendering to Jesus Christ.

In 2 Timothy 3:1-2, 4, Paul said, “In the last days perilous times will come: For men will be … lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.” We’re searching for pleasure, for happiness, for kicks, and we get them temporarily. But then comes the morning after. And the kick has a kickback.

On the other hand, the psalmist said, “You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11). Not the pleasure of a moment, but forever.

The only people I know anywhere who really have complete pleasure and happiness and joy are those who know Jesus Christ. Oh, there could be tears and problems and difficulties. It’s not easy to be a Christian. But when the Holy Spirit takes full control of you, it becomes the most exciting, the most thrilling, the most challenging, the most adventuresome life in the world.

People today also seek instant sex instead of true love. They say, “I want it now. I’m not willing to wait for true love.” They have erotic love, but agapé love—God’s love—they don’t know anything about. Come to Christ and find true love.

And they seek instant wealth instead of true treasures. We’re living in the most affluent society the world has ever known. When I come back to America from abroad, I can’t believe the wealth in this country. Many people who are poor around the world are saying, “I want it, and I want it now.” I try to tell them that all of America’s wealth hasn’t made us a happy nation. It hasn’t solved our problems. Because true wealth is spiritual wealth. Jesus said, “How hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:24-25).

Oh, a rich person can get to Heaven. There’s nothing wrong with being rich if you got it honestly, and if you’re a good steward, and if you share it. But some want to get it—and get it now. And so they are lying and cheating and stealing.

“He who trusts in his riches will fall,” the Scripture says (Proverbs 11:28). I’ve never seen a funeral in which, behind the hearse, there was a U-Haul trailer going out to the graveyard. You can’t take it with you. Jesus said, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:19-20).

Do you have treasures in Heaven? What’s your bank account like in Heaven? If you’ve got a big bank account in hell, you had better change banks. I’m serious. You can’t take it with you. You leave it all behind. And the only thing that counts is your relationship with Jesus Christ.

God said through Isaiah, “‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ Says the Lord, ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow’” (Isaiah 1:18). Wouldn’t it be wonderful to take all of your scarlet sins today and have them as white as snow? Jesus can do it. “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

The greatest word in all the world is forgiveness. Are you forgiven? Are you sure of it? Are you certain that God has forgiven you? Well, that’s why Christ died on the cross; and that’s why He rose again—so that you might be forgiven.

The Bible says, “Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). Come to Jesus now.

When I was preaching a few months ago, there were two 18-year-old boys in the audience. And when I gave the appeal, they turned to each other and said, “Shall we go?” One said, “Yes,” and the other said, “No.” They talked a little bit, and they both decided to accept Christ. A few weeks later, they were flying an airplane. They got caught in a storm in the mountains. The plane crashed, and they both went into the presence of Christ. What if they had said “No”? What if they had put it off? I’ll see those two boys in Heaven because one night they came to Christ.

Now is your moment—right this instant. Do I believe in instant salvation? I certainly do. Open your heart to Christ right now. Say “Yes” to Him.

The Home: An Institution For Child Training PT. 2

0

God’s instructions begin with the expectation that parents will accept and fully live by His commandments. One of the most powerful tools in child training is ‘example’. One practical example carries more impact than a hundred words. Words may be forgotten with time, but practical pictures will always stick.

The Bible says: And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).

The above scripture explains that being an example is the most powerful teaching method of all; but that’s not all. God did not only tell parents to teach their children His ways, but He instructed them to do it diligently. He said it should be done throughout their days: when they are sitting, walking, going to bed or getting up in the morning.

Everything reproduces after its kind. Your children will prefer to do what you do, than what you preach or say. You should live a life worthy of emulation. The Bible says: Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity (I Timothy 4:12).

Parents are instructed to be examples not just in words but deeds. You need to watch what you say and how you act around your children.  Many times, out of anger, you may want to abuse your children; but if you let those words escape out of your lips, you have sown a negative seed. Don’t speak carelessly, not even when you are angry. Let your words be gracious, life-transforming and destiny-moulding.

Children are a reflection of their parents. Murmuring and complaining parents will definitely have the same attitude reflected in their children; just as stingy parents will have stingy children.

Do not expect a “do as I say” approach to bring success in child training. Nothing is more ineffective when a parent uses foul language but tries to correct his child for using same. How can a parent teach responsibility if his own actions are irresponsible?

Abraham was conscientious in obeying God, and his descendants – Isaac, Jacob and Joseph, also diligently followed same. Your own example is paramount in properly influencing your children because they are quick to notice discrepancies between what you ask them not to do and what you do yourself.

Paul pointed out this principle to the Jews, who were trying to influence the gentiles (non-Jews) but were hypocritical: Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written (Romans 2:21-24).

Regardless of what parents say, most young people will adopt their parents’ standards and lifestyles. In this case, actions do speak louder than words. Your children are watching the way you maltreat their mother and saying, “If this is what marriage is all about, I don’t think there is need for me to get married”. There are cases like that in our society today because of the negative examples parents have set before their children. I see a change coming your way today in Jesus’ name!

When children are properly taught Biblical principles, they become great people. When they go to school, they understand that morally upright people live by a code of conduct that requires them to act honourably and show respect to others. Thus, it is time to be a worthy example because you are not just dealing with children but destinies. Don’t be careless!

The grace to be a positive example to your children can only be given to you when you are born again. To be born again means to surrender your life to Christ. This is by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your personal Saviour and Lord. If you are ready for this, please say this prayer: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Pastor Faith Oyedepo
