Tennis Prodigy Coco Gauff’s Said Her Dad Taught Her To Pray For Her Opponent Before Every Match

0
Fifteen-year-old tennis prodigy Coco Gauff, who defeated Venus Williams this month in the Wimbledon singles championship, revealed that before every match she prays for her opponents.

Gauff raised her hands in gratitude on Monday, July 1 after beating her idol, Williams, in a changing-of-the-guard match. She’s the youngest contestant and has been taking the tennis world by storm with her ability.

Her athleticism, however, is not the only thing that’s drawing people’s attention. Her faith and sincerity also made the news. Before her match with Williams at All England Club, Gauff took a moment to thank Williams, the champion at the time, for everything she has done to pave the way for girls in the sport.

“She’s been an inspiration for many people,” Gauff told The New York Times in an interview following the momentous match. “I was just really telling her thank you. I met her before, but I didn’t really have the guts to say anything.”

After shaking hands with Williams, the teenager knelt down by her chair in tears. When asked by the outlet what she was doing at that moment, she unashamedly said she was praying, a spiritual practice she began with her father every time before heading out on the court.

“Before every match, since I was 8, my dad and I say a prayer together,” Gauff revealed to NYT. “We don’t really pray about victory, just that me and my opponent stay safe. After the match, I was just thanking God for this opportunity.”

The young athlete went on to credit her dad for her impressive debut.

“My dad told me that I could do this when I was 8. Obviously, you never believe it. I’m still not, like 100 percent confident. But … you have to just say things. You never know what happens,” she stated. “If I went into this match saying, ‘Let me see how many games I can get against her,’ then I most definitely would not have won. My goal was to play my best. My dream was to win. That’s what happened. I think people just kind of limit themselves too much.”

Gauff was the youngest player ever to qualify for the main draw and she managed to beat the five-time champion, Williams. She lost in the next round to Simona Halep.

Persecution Of Christians Meets ‘Definition of Genocide,’ Report for British Gov’t Says

A new report prepared for the British government says Christianity is “by far the most widely persecuted religion” and recommends the government become the worldwide leader in promoting religious liberty.

“How grave does this situation have to become before we act?” the report says.

The 176-page report on persecuted Christians was commission by Jeremy Hunt, British secretary of state for foreign and commonwealth affairs, and prepared by the Rt. Rev. Philip Mounstephen, bishop of Truro. An interim report was released in May.

The final report outlines the problem of the persecution of Christians worldwide before listing recommendations on how to help the universal church. It was released July 4.

“It is estimated that one-third of the world’s population suffers from religious persecution in some form, with Christians being the most persecuted group,” the report says, quoting data showing that in 2016, Christians were targeted in 144 countries – an increase from 125 in 2015.

In some regions, the report says, the “level and nature of persecution” of Christians is “arguably coming close to meeting the international definition of genocide” adopted by the United Nations. It references killings by ISIS and Boko Haram.

“The main impact of such genocidal acts against Christians is internal displacement and exodus,” the report says. “Christianity now faces the possibility of being wiped-out in parts of the Middle East where its roots go back furthest.”

Boko Haram’s killings already have met the definition, the report says. The group has a stated goal of killing Christians to establish an Islamic state. It already has killed thousands of believers.

“Boko Haram activity in the region meets the tests for it to be considered as genocide against Christians according to the definition adopted by the UN.”

The report was prepared for the British government but says of other nations: “The need for governments to give increasing priority and specific targeted support to this faith community is not only necessary but increasingly urgent.”

The report lists more than 20 recommendations, including that the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office become the “global leader in championing” freedom of religion or belief (FoRB), particularly within the U.N. Human Rights Council, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), and the Council of Europe.

Children Of The Word Of God

0

Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men (2 Corinthians 3:2).

Every Christian is born of the Word; meaning, we’re children of the Word. The Bible says, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (1 Peter 1:23). So, you’re the Word in flesh!

This is what the Apostle Paul meant by us being “living epistles.” In 2 Corinthians 3:3, he said, “Clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart” (NKJV). Today, anyone who wants to see the Word of God should look at you, for you’re the epistle of Christ! This is what the Church is—the Word in flesh!

The Lord Jesus was the Word of God tabernacled in human flesh. He was the epistle of God. He was the love-letter sent to the world by God. The Bible says in John 1:14 that the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

The same Word that became flesh gave birth to us: “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures” (James 1:18) We’re the offspring of the Word. We were born in the realm of the spirit to be like Jesus through the Word. Glory to God!

Your life is the life of the Word. You’re not an ordinary person. You may look like everyone else, but you’re different. You’re God’s message—His Word! Therefore, never look down on yourself.

You’re not born of the corruptible seed of man, but of God’s incorruptible seed. This is the reason the life in you is the God-life; it’s the life of the Word. 1 John 4:4 says, “Ye are of God…,” meaning you’re born of God; you hail from Him; God and His Word are one. Hallelujah!

CONFESSION:

My life is for the glory of God. I’m not an ordinary person, for I’m a living epistle, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, known and read of all men. Through me, many are coming to the knowledge of Christ, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

One-Fifth Of All Churches In The Netherlands Are No Longer Being Used As Houses Of Worship

0

Over a fifth of all churches in the European nation of the Netherlands are no longer being used as places of worship, according to research conducted by a Dutch newspaper.

Despite being a traditionally Christian country – in the late 19th century roughly 60% of the population were active Protestants – Holland has seen a rapid decline in the faith ever since.

As a result of its research, news outlet Trouw discovered that a vast number of churches have now been converted into apartments, offices and libraries, or are being utilized for other social or cultural activities. Staggeringly, around 1,400 of the 6,900 registered church buildings are now being used for non-religious purposes.

One in five churches in the Netherlands is no longer a house of worship

Among the Catholic denomination, however, churches are more likely to be seen as holy and consecrated spaces, and are therefore rarely re-purposed into non-worship facilities.

“For Roman Catholic’s the Church is sacred, for Protestants the church is useful,” the researchers noted, according to Premier News UK. “As a result, Roman Catholics are more reluctant to give their churches a different function.”

This sentiment is reflected in the figures: some 850 of roughly 3,000 Protestant church buildings built since the year 1800 are no longer used for Christian gatherings, whereas only 280 out of around 1,500 Catholic churches have ceased to be used for religious purposes.

In a 2017 report on social cohesion and well-being, Statistics Netherlands (CBS), revealed that for the first time, a majority of the Dutch population stated that they do not belong to any particular religious group.

“In 2017, slightly under half (49 percent) of the group aged 15 years or older stated they were religious,” the group explained. “This share was still 50 percent in the previous year, down from 54 percent in 2012.”

Church attendance has also seen a dramatic decline. In 1971, 37 percent of the population would attend a religious service on a regular basis. In 2017, this figure was sitting at just 16 percent.

Instruments of Deliverance

0

We live in a world today that is filled with a lot of wickedness – wicked human manipulations, spiritual wickedness in high places. It is therefore vital to know the tools that can set us free from the evil agenda of the enemy

INSTRUMENTS OF DELIVERANCE:
1. The forgiveness of sins (Ps. 103:1-5)
Forgiveness of sins means maintaining ourselves in the situation where our sins are forgiven
Before God can deliver you from destruction, your sins must be forgiven

2. The knowledge of the truth (John 8:32; Prov. 11:9b)
Arm yourself with light, knowledge and understanding
There is something you can know that will make it impossible for the altars of your father’s house or occultic powers to bury you before your time your level, light and insight in scripture is higher than those of your parents that died before their time, so you cannot end the way they ended
The knowledge of the truth imparts boldness; light brings might
The Scripture does not only bring light, it enmightens you to enable to wangle your way out of the traps of wickedness

3. The power of the fast (esp. fasting with light and insight) (Isa. 58:6, 8; Matt. 17:21)
This is fasting with light, insight and understanding
To fast is to fight – esp. with light and insight
Don’t allow yourself to die cheaply
Don’t let any devil torment you with any nonsense dream or useless prophecy

4. The power of worship (1Sam. 16:23; Ps. 32:7)
Worship songs carry deliverance power

If A Man Is Interested, He Will Pursue You

0

God has built into a man a strong desire to be the initiator in relationships. That’s part of his manhood. He wants to seize the challenge.

The Bible says, “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord” (Proverbs 18:22).  It does not say, “She who goes looking!”  A man loves the pursuit. Trust me. When he sees what he wants, he goes after it. If a man you adore is not pursuing you, he is not interested in you.

Let’s settle this once and for all. He is not shy. You do not intimidate him. He does not need your help. One of my brothers (who had a lot of experience dating) told me: “If a man is interested, no distance will stand in the way. But if he is not interested, you can live next door, and that’s too far for him to go.”

Now if you are determined to take the initiative, to approach a man with free tickets to a concert, Sunday dinner at your place, or access to your new sports car, and he takes you up on all of the offers, but he’s still not interested, then “W.I.I.F.M” is at play. (The same brother taught me this). W.I.I.F.M stands for: “What’s in it for me?”

In other words, he’s using you, and you are allowing him to do so. Does he only respond to your “freebies” and never suggests a date on his own where he pays? Do you call more than he does? Are you always the one planning the holiday get-togethers? Then face the facts: He is not interested!

I learned this rule the hard way. If only I had known what I know now: Men always pursue the women who catch their eye.

Fulfilling Your Ministry

0
  1. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)
  2. You are not a biological accident. You are specially and specifically designed by God to fulfil a purpose on earth.
  3. God says to Jeremiah, “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” (Jer. 1:4-5 NLT)
  4. Knowing this should get you excited. What is a surprise to you is not a surprise to God, you are not an afterthought. You are special, unique and complex in design. (Ps. 139:13-16 NLT)
  5. Many don’t know how special and specially equipped they are. You can never know who you are except by revelation. When you catch a revelation of who you really are you will fall in love with yourself. (Ps. 8:3-8, Eph. 2:10 NLT).
  6. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it – Eph. 2:8-9
  7. Salvation puts you in alignment with God’s plans and purposes. We are recreated in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:28-30)
  8. We were all compromised by Adam and Eve. God had factored the possibility of man’s disobedience due to his free will into the plan; Jesus would come into the world. (Rev. 13:8 NLT).
  9. So, God calls us into a relationship with Him and makes us right with Him. Then He shares His glory (beauty, magnificence, wealth) with us.
  10. Why do we start the discussion on your assignment from here? Being precedes doing. Who you think you are or who you think you’re not puts a cap on what you can do.
  11. Discover who you are in Christ. This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (2nd Cor. 5:17, 1st Peter. 2:9-10, 1st John 5:4 NLT).
  12. Christ made outrageous claims about His identity (Luke 4:18-19, John 10:30). It’s your turn. Your identity in is Christ Jesus. What determines your identity is what God says about you.

CHURCH GIST

Powerful Effects Of Quiet Time

0

Jeremiah 20:9 “Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing and I could not stay.”

The Word of God reveals things about us. It is a fire that burns away things and it also reveals things about us that we don’t know. When you spend time in His closet, it reveals things about you that you don’t know.

When I was a child I knew that God had called me, but when it came to obeying, I didn’t know God’s timing.

So every time I had my quiet time, I prayed “Oh God you have called me, please show me the right moment”.

Then at a particular time, I felt and sensed that the Holy Spirit was saying “it’s time”!
