Chamba District Mission House, Two Church Buildings Dedicated

0

Three church projects in the Chamba District in the Yendi Area of The Church of Pentecost have been dedicated to the glory of God.

The projects, namely the District Mission House, Gungunpa and Amangoase church buildings, were dedicated by the Yendi Area Head, Apostle W. K. Edzorhoho, on Saturday, November 3, 2018.

The sod cutting for the district mission house took place in 2013 by the then Area Head, Apostle Daniel Nii Teiko Tackie, assisted by Pastor Abraham Nana Bamfo Oppong, the then District Minister.

Speaking at the service on the theme, “Remaining in Christ As We Are Being Dedicated To God,” Probationary Overseer James Bariki Yambilla of Wolensi District admonished believers to be patient and responsive to the corrections of God.

He asked believers to always live in the “Now” and should not take pride in past glories. He noted that though Apostles Peter and Judas Iscariot were fed with the very words of Jesus Christ, they were prone to sin. However, he said, Peter fully repented and was saved, but Judas saw destruction because he did not ask God for the forgiveness of his sin.

In a remark, Apostle Edzorhoho commended Pastor Francis Ofori-Atta (Chamba District Minister) and his team for diligently executing the projects. He also praised the effort of all others, including past ministers for the successful completion of the projects.

In attendance were the chief of Chamba and his entourage, the Assemblyman, delegations from sister churches and Pastor Abraham Nana Bamfo Oppong (Resident Minister of Kwadaso Pentecost International Worship Centre).

From His Personal Assistant: An Inside Look at Billy Graham’s Ministry

0

As a college student, Maury Scobee couldn’t imagine committing his life to working for just one person. Yet, God called him to do just that for the next 40 years, serving as personal assistant for the late evangelist Billy Graham.

Throughout the decades, Scobee spent countless hours with Mr. Graham, attending over 80 Crusades around the world and regularly finding a seat in the kitchen of the Grahams’ log cabin-style house nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains. He’d do whatever needed to be done, whether it was helping gather items before a Crusade, watching the grandkids or taking care of Mr. Graham during his last years of life.

“You know, you consider it a great joy in your heart that the Lord called you to be such a great part of behind-the-scenes capacity for someone so great as Mr. Graham,” Scobee said.

He not only loved Mr. Graham and his wife, Ruth, personally, but also appreciates how the evangelist stayed focused and driven “to continue to do what God’s will was for his life.”

After Mr. Graham’s passing in February, Franklin Graham asked Scobee to move from his home in Black Mountain, North Carolina, to Charlotte, North Carolina, to work at the Billy Graham Library, which is on the grounds where Mr. and Mrs. Graham are buried.

“Mother and Daddy are down here now,” Franklin told Scobee. “They’re gonna be glad to know that you’re down here with them.”

Since June, 70-year-old Scobee has been working as a ministry ambassador at the Library, constantly reminded of his history with the Grahams.

Since Mr. Graham’s passing, Scobee has been involved in a few speaking engagements, including at the Billy Graham Training Center

From Friendship to Future

During his 20s, Scobee attended LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas, switching majors from engineering to business, unsure of what he wanted to do with his life. He eventually got involved in the hotel industry full-time but continued his schooling. During his fifth year, Franklin Graham started attending his school.

Although the two men crossed paths several times a week, Scobee didn’t meet Franklin until his last five minutes on campus at the end of the year. While Scobee was grabbing his mail before heading home, a voice said, “Wait! Aren’t you Maury Scobee?” Scobee turned and realized it was Franklin Graham, who continued, “I certainly hope we can become friends. I’ll be back this fall.”

Franklin later returned to school and would sometimes stop by hotels where Scobee was working or they’d go get pizza. Scobee recognized God had brought the friendship together but didn’t know He would align his future career through it.

Franklin Graham Honors His Father, Billy Graham, on His 100th Birthday

0

One hundred years ago, the man who would become known as the “evangelist to the world” and “pastor to presidents” was born on a dairy farm in Charlotte, North Carolina. But in his hometown on Wednesday, Billy Graham was remembered by family members and ordinary people who loved him and his legacy of sharing the Gospel.

More than 800 people lined up outside the Billy Graham Library to meet his son, Franklin Graham; share a quick Billy Graham story; and get a copy of Through My Father’s Eyes autographed. Franklin visited with people and signed copies of the book he wrote to honor his father.

The younger Graham began working on the book after his mother, Ruth Bell Graham, passed away in 2007. He finished it shortly before his father went to heaven on February 21, 2018.

“These are lessons I’ve learned from my father but also my heavenly Father,” Franklin Graham told those gathered. “These are lessons on Scripture that apply to all of us.”

The tribute book, which was released in May, shares personal memories, anecdotes and powerful insights on the impact a godly father can have.

“I think I’ll miss my father all the days of my life,” Franklin Graham added. “There’s not a day that I don’t think about him at some point during that day.

“I ask myself, ‘What would my father say about this? What would my father think about this?’”

Franklin Graham continues his father’s ministry, serving as president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA).

Flowers were placed at Billy Graham’s grave Wednesday, Nov. 7, to commemorate what would have been his 100th birthday. The grave of his late wife, Ruth Bell Graham, is to the left.
Through My Father’s Eyes is available online at Ruth’s Attic bookstore.

Will Graham’s Canada Tour came to a close Sunday night in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. More than 6,400 people attended the three-day Avalon Celebration of Hope. Another 21,000 people from 53 countries watched online. Many decided to turn their lives over to Christ during the Canada events.

The first stop on Will’s tour was Oct. 26-27 in Rankin Inlet, a remote town not far from the Arctic Circle. This past weekend, he shared the Gospel in the Avalon Region. The area is known for its friendly people, with a heritage of English, Irish, French and Indigenous ancestry.

Praise for Answered Prayers at Avalon Celebration of Hope

Will Graham preached from Luke 23, sharing how Jesus—the King of kings and Lord of lords—hung on the cross between two thieves. “The man in the middle can change your life tonight,” Will said. The moose figurine on the podium was a gift from a young boy to Will, after the evangelist joked that he hadn’t seen any moose, even though the province is heavily populated with them.

Will Graham preached from Luke 23

“It takes guts to make a decision for Christ. And no one can make it for you,” Will told Sunday’s crowd. “Everything can change tonight when you give everything over to Christ.”

Many flooded the floor to pray for Jesus to be their Lord and Savior.
Trained prayer volunteers come alongside new believers or people who rededicate their lives to Christ. They answer questions about being a Christian and pray with them.

IDOL WORSHIPER TURNS TO CHRIST

0

Mr. John Ntebe, an idol worshipper, has given his life to Christ after several failed attempts to eliminate the Kpalbutabu District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor McCarthy Amevade Coffie, and his wife, Sandra. According to him, when the minister and his wife arrived in the town, he gave them a 6-month ultimatum to pack their belongings and leave or lose their lives.

“I felt that their arrival in the town would undermine his authority and influence as the spiritual leader and opinion leader of the Kpalbutabu community,” he said.

John, therefore, took the couple to other fetishes in Kukpalgu, Zabzugu, Kintampo and other places, all in an attempt to humiliate them publicly and eliminate them, but without success. Mr. Ntebe said that his persistence was further dealt a major blow when his wife gave her life to Christ and joined the Church. That notwithstanding, he still saw it as an opportunity to attack the pastor through his wife by using her to sow seeds of confusion in the Church and the Mission House without her knowledge.

“I went for juju (charm) to cause my wife to steal from the Mission House and to be disgraced so that she would stop attending the church.
I also went for a money ritual to make me one of the great spiritualists in the Kpalbutabu town and its environs to enable me conquer the territory,” he said.

Unfortunately for him, instead of taking the life of Pastor Coffie, John rather fell sick and resorted to herbal medicine for treatment. After there was no improvement in his condition, John Ntebe finally gave up and rushed to the Mission House for assistance. He knelt down before Pastor Coffie and began to confess all he had done.

Pastor Coffie, together with Elder Joshua Semador, who had visited the minister at the Mission House, prayed for Mr Ntebe and led him to receive Christ. John Ntebe brought his entire household to receive Christ and were baptized a week later.

To the glory of God, the Ntebes are now active members of the Church.

2018 International Day of Prayer

0

November 4 kicked off the 2018 International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church (IDOP) event which implores Christians around the world to pray for their persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ.

The event, which takes place on the first and second Sundays in November each year – this year being the 4th and 11th – was started in 1996 by the World Evangelical Alliance’s Religious Liberty Commission.

According to Open Doors USA, the purpose of the IDOP is for “Christians throughout the free world [to] band together in solidarity with believers who live out their faith in the face of harassment, attacks, false imprisonment and even death.”

This year’s theme is “Listen to Their Cry,” and it aims at giving persecuted Christians a platform to share their stories from countries such as North Korea, Nigeria, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan where hundreds, if not thousands of Christians are persecuted annually.

A Christian from Afghanistan is quoted in the video as saying, “I am so afraid; I believe in Jesus now, and my wife also but I still go to the mosque to pray five times a day.”

A Christian woman from North Korea shared her experience in a labor camp with the outlet saying, “Every day was as if God was pouring out all ten plagues on us simultaneously. That’s how hard it was. But God also comforted me. Every Sunday we would gather in the toilets and pray.”

More than 6,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria this year alone. In Pakistan, 700 Christian women or girls are being kidnapped and pressured to convert each year.
