The Makarios Library

0

By wisdom is a house built, by understanding it is established, and by knowledge its rooms are filled…. Proverbs 24. 3-4

The Makarios sets of books is an amalgation of the wisdom, knowledge and understanding that God has given to Bishop Dag Heward-Mills that has made him start and grow his church, from a classroom of five friends, thirty four years ago, to a worldwide ministry of almost one million members in over one hundred countries on every continent of the world.

Bishop Dag Heward-Mills believes that because God is not a respecter of persons, any Christian who uses this God given wisdom, knowledge and understanding should achieve the same results that he has and more.

So far, the Makarios is available in two sets; the Makarios 1-50 and Makarios 51-100 making a total of one hundred books in the entire collection.

The Makarios 1-50 contains books that will help and make you build and establish a successful life, church and ministry.
It contains the Church Growth Series that teach practical and detailed steps to help you start a church in a godly way.
The Loyalty set of books will help you build your church on a solid foundation that will make your church withstand all future storms. The series of books on Evangelism Series and The Ministry Series will lead to the numerical growth of your church and spiritual growth of those who join your church.
Next is the Shepherding Series of books which will help you become a greater pastor of your flock than you would have been whilst the teachings in the Leadership Series and Wisdom Series of books will lead to the prosperity of your members which translates into the prosperity of the church so you can have the ability to accomplish the visions God has placed in your heart.

Other Series of books include The Anointing Series which will help you engage and maintain the help and involvement of The Holy Spirit in your ministry while the Spiritual Warfare collection will successfully teach you to ward *off* spiritual attacks on your life and ministry as a servant of God.
Finally the use of the Marriage Collection will bring the much needed joy and happiness into the marriage of your members, through the worldwide classic, Model Marriage and then more specifically into the marriage of the pastor through the book, The Beauty, The Beast and The Pastor.

The Makarios 51-100, which also falls into all the above categories contains books that will help you make great advances and break forth into an enlarged and fruitful ministry. In these Bishop Dag Heward-Mills shares secrets and wisdom nuggets that will make an established church become a global spiritual ministry. Books such as enlarge secrets, the double Mega missionary church and wisdom is the principal thing for your ministry share with you spiritual and practical keys to great expansion in ministry. Many of the other books, based on camp messages Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has held, will yield a large, anointed and committed ministerial team for you to expand your ministry.

Probably, the highlight of the Makarios 51-100 is a book titled THE GIFT OF GOVERNMENTS. The king by judgement establishes the land, Proverbs 29.4. This extraordinary book, contains clearly written out laws and statues. These laws and statues when adopted by a church leads to a strong foundation for the establishment of the church and the long continuance of the ministry, beyond the founder. Basically, it can form the constitution of the church.

May the following sure word of prophecy from Revelation 10.10-11 come to pass in the life and ministry of everyone who acquires and ‘eats’ the Makarios.
_And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter. And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations,

Scientists Use New Dating Technique to Analyze Military Conquests against Israel, Judah

0

Scientists in Israel have found a new dating technique to accurately date military conquests in the Old Testament and verify its historical accuracy.

According to a recently published study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, scientists have found an “approach that applies archaeomagnetic investigation to the remains of ancient towns that were destroyed by fire.”

The research, conducted by Hebrew University and Tel Aviv University, has properly dated 21 destruction layers at 17 archaeological sites across Israel by reconstructing the geomagnetic fields.

As a result, researchers were able to verify the Old Testament military campaigns of the Egyptians, Arameans, Assyrians, and Babylonians against the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. The findings also pointed out that the army of Hazael, King of Aram-Damascus, was responsible for destroying multiple cities, including Tel Rehov, Tel Zayit, Horvat Tevet and the Philistine city of Gath.

Additional geomagnetic findings found that the Edomites destroyed several sites in Southern Judah following the destruction of Jerusalem and Judah by the Babylonians, The Christian Postreports.

“Based on the similarity or difference in intensity and direction of the magnetic field, we can either corroborate or disprove hypotheses claiming that specific sites were burned during the same military campaign,” Yoav Vaknin of the Institute of Archaeology at Tel Aviv University said in a statement.

“Moreover, we have constructed a variation curve of field intensity over time which can serve as a scientific dating tool, similar to the radiocarbon dating method.”

Another noteworthy finding surrounds the final days of the Judean kingdom.

“Some researchers, relying on archaeological evidence, argue that Judah was not completely destroyed by the Babylonians,” Prof. Erez Ben Yosef, the project’s supervising professor, explained.

“While Jerusalem and frontier cities in the Judean foothills ceased to exist, other towns in the Negev, the southern Judean Mountains and the southern Judean foothills remained almost unaffected.”

“Several decades after they had destroyed Jerusalem and the First Temple, sites in the Negev, which had survived the Babylonian campaign, were destroyed — probably by the Edomites who took advantage of the fall of Jerusalem,” the professor argued.

“This betrayal and participation in the destruction of the surviving cities may explain why the Hebrew Bible expresses so much hatred for the Edomites — for example, in the prophecy of Obadiah,” he added.

Are You as Committed to Morning Scripture as Morning Coffee

0

Tim Tebow asks Christians in a new video if they are as committed to reading the Bible every morning as they are to drinking a cup of coffee, saying it would be “more life-giving than a cup of coffee could ever be.

The ESPN football analyst and former Heisman Trophy winner made the video in promotion of a new devotional he co-wrote with A.J. Gregory, the Mission Possible One-Year Devotional: 365 Days of Inspiration for Pursuing Your God-Given Purpose.

“Literally, as we were getting ready to film, we were brewing this coffee, and I could read multiple devotionals in the time that this coffee brewed,” Tebow says in the Instagram video. “And I was just thinking: If we did that every day, we would be brewing coffee for energy and focus but would be brewing our soul for what God has in store for our lives.”

Tebow, an outspoken Christian, wrote in a post accompanying the video: “Don’t get me wrong, I love coffee too!”

“But it’s interesting to think about how committed we are to morning tasks like making coffee,” he wrote. “Imagine if we were as committed to being in His presence and His word every morning as we are to coffee. Instead of saying, ‘Before I start my day, I need coffee,’ saying, ‘Before I start my day, I need Jesus!’ Wow, that would be life-changing and more life-giving than a cup of coffee could ever be.”

Saddleback hopes to stay in SBC amid female pastor controversy

0

Saddleback Church does not want to leave the Southern Baptist Convention over its support of female pastors, according to recently installed lead Pastor Andy Wood.

The prominent California megachurch has received increased attention for its support of female pastors, which goes against the SBC’s official stance against the ordination of women.

In comments given to the Baptist Press, which serves as the official news service for the SBC, Wood explained that “we are committed to stay in fellowship and unified with other SBC churches even when we disagree.”

“Saddleback Church has a strong commitment to the authority and inerrancy of the Bible. We believe this approach is biblical and in alignment with the teachings of the New Testament as well,” he said.

Wood also told BP that his congregation believes that “pastoring and teaching are functions and spiritual gifts to be exercised in the church by both men and women.”

“The function of teaching and pastoring is not necessarily synonymous nor exclusive from the office of overseer,” he added.

Wood, who replaced pastor and bestselling author Rick Warren as leader of Saddleback, listed his wife Stacie as a “teaching pastor” on the church’s website. Additionally, earlier this month, Stacie preached a sermon at Saddleback, with her being identified as a “Teaching Pastor.”

Wood told BP that while he did not consider him and his wife to be “co-pastors,” he did consider her to be “one of our teaching pastors.”

In May 2021, Saddleback drew scrutiny from some within the SBC when the church ordained three women — Liz Puffer, Cynthia Petty and Katie Edwards. The ordinations come even though the Baptist Faith & Message 2000, the convention’s official statement of beliefs, says that the “office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.”

Owen Strachan, a theology professor at Grace Bible Theological Seminary, was among the critics, arguing on social media that the ordinations were an example of “unbiblical developments” at Saddleback.

Some wanted Saddleback, one of the convention’s largest congregations, to be disfellowshipped as other churches have been kicked out of the SBC for ordaining women as pastors.

The SBC Credentials Committee, which determines if member churches are abiding by the convention’s standards, announced at the SBC’s Annual Meeting in June that it would delay a decision about whether to disfellowship Saddleback.

Committee Chair Linda Cooper said at the annual meeting that they were “not yet prepared to make a recommendation on Saddleback,” recognizing there are “differing opinions regarding the intent of the office of pastor as stated in the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.

Franklin Graham wins nearly £100,000 in damages over Scottish venue cancellation

0

A Glasgow court has awarded American evangelist Franklin Graham nearly £100,000 in damages after his event booking was cancelled by a venue in the city in 2020.

The Hydro arena pulled the plug on the planned evangelistic outreach event in the face of pressure from the LGBT community because of Graham’s traditional views on marriage and sexuality.

Glasgow’s Sheriff Court strongly defended the religious freedom of Christians in his judgment on Monday in which he wrote that Graham and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) were wrongfully discriminated against by Scottish Event Campus (SEC), operator of the Hydro.

Sheriff John McCormick said that the SEC’s actions were a “thinly veiled exercise in virtue signalling” and that the exhibition centre had “bowed to public pressure, spurred on and whipped up by political leaders online”.

He ruled that the SEC violated the Equality Act 2010 when it favoured the opinions of the people who were protesting BGEA’s event and silenced those who supported it.

In his 280-page opinion, the sheriff wrote, “The law cannot endorse an outcome whereby a mainstream Christian religious gathering cannot be held because some members of the community, however vehemently, disagree with religiously based beliefs to which they take objection.

“Such objectors in a democratic society undoubtedly have a right to freedom of expression and of assembly to protest against other’s religious views.

“What they do not have is a right to silence them or to stop religious assemblies from being held and from making welcome all who would come and hear the Good News preached by Franklin Graham at the Glasgow SSE Hydro Event.”

The sheriff has awarded BGEA damages totaling £97,325 but a further hearing will be held in January to determine expenses.

In response to Monday’s ruling, Graham, who is president and CEO of the BGEA, said the decision was “a clear victory for freedom of speech and religion in the UK”.

“This case was never about financial remedies—it was about the preservation of religious freedom in the UK —particularly the right for Christians to share the Gospel in the public square,” he said.

“I want to thank Sheriff John McCormick for upholding the law and affirming that Christians must be treated fairly and equally.

“This ruling will be a great encouragement for Christians and people of all faiths across the UK and many other parts of the world.”

It is the fifth successful legal challenge by the BGEA against the cancellation of all venues in Graham’s 2020 tour.

The tour was postponed until after the pandemic and held across the UK this year, when nearly 20,000 people attended outreach events across four cities.

Archeologists find tomb of Saint Nicholas

0

Archeologists have found the tomb that holds the remains of Saint Nicholas underneath an ancient church in Turkey. Nicholas, who became the basis for the Christmas character Santa Claus, died more than 1,600 years ago.

“This is an extremely important discovery, the first find from that period,” Fox News quoted Osman Eravsar, chairman of the Antalya Cultural Heritage Preservation Regional Board, as saying about the discovery in a church in the Demre town in southern Turkey.

After rising sea levels in the Mediterranean submerged the church, a second church was built there centuries later.

“Now we have reached the remains of the first church and the floor on which Saint Nicholas stepped,” Eravsar said, according to The Daily Mail. “The tiling of the floor of the first church, on which Saint Nicholas walked, has been unearthed.

Researchers have been examining the foundations of the Church of St. Nicholas in Demre for decades. They also recently uncovered a fresco of Jesus at the site.

“When the screed floor slab laid in the 1970s was removed where it was, an excavation was carried out to find out what’s under it,” Eravsar explained. “The result was an early fourth century floor covering of the church.

In 2017, when archeologists found the tomb but couldn’t confirm, The Daily Sabah newspaper noted that the finding was considered surprising, as “the remains of St. Nicholas were believed to have been smuggled to the Italian city of Bari by Italian merchants in the year 1087.”

“The Santa Claus Museum, formerly an ancient church with a sarcophagus attributed to the Christmas saint is located in the town of Demre,” added the news site.

A fourth century bishop who lived under the Roman Empire, St. Nicholas was persecuted for his faith under Emperor Diocletian but lived to see Constantine come to power and legalize Christianity.

“After his release, Nicholas attended the Council of Nicaea in AD 325. He died Dec. 6, AD 343 in Myra and was buried in his cathedral church, where a unique relic, called manna, formed in his grave,” notes the St. Nicholas Center.

“This liquid substance, said to have healing powers, fostered the growth of devotion to Nicholas. The anniversary of his death became a day of celebration, St. Nicholas Day, Dec. 6 (Dec. 19 on the Julian Calendar).”

Archbishop praying for Rishi Sunak as he becomes Britain’s next prime minister

0

The Archbishop of Canterbury has invited people to join him in praying for Rishi Sunak after he was confirmed today as Britain’s next prime minister.

Sunak is Britain’s first Hindu and Asian heritage prime minister.

He clinched the top job after seeing off rivals Penny Mordaunt and the former prime minister Boris Johnson.

In an address to the nation after winning the leadership contest, Sunak said his first priority was unifying the Conservative party and the country at a time of “profound economic challenge”.

He promised to serve “with integrity and humility”.

“But there is no doubt we face a profound economic challenge. We now need stability and unity. And I will make it my utmost priority to bring our party and our country together,” he said.

“Because that is the only way we will overcome the challenges we face and build a better, more prosperous future for our children and our grandchildren.

“I pledge that I will serve you with integrity and humility, and I will work day in, day out, to deliver for the British people.”

chbishop Justin Welby said he was praying for Sunak and the healing of political divisions.

“At a time of great difficulty and uncertainty for this country, please join me in praying for Rishi Sunak as he takes on the responsibilities of leadership,” said the Archbishop.

“May he, and all leaders of all parties, work across divides to bring unity and offer stability for those who need it most.”

World Council of Churches head meets with Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill

0

The acting general secretary of the World Council of Churches met this week with Patriarch Kirill, the Russian Orthodox Church head who has drawn global criticism for lending spiritual support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

According to a WCC readout of the meeting, acting General Secretary Fr. Ioan Sauca, a Romanian Orthodox priest, met with Kirill at the Patriarchal Residence in Moscow on Oct. 17 to discuss “how churches are called to be peacemakers.” The two reportedly engaged in a public discussion as well as a separate, private conversation.

The meeting followed months of controversy surrounding the Russian Orthodox Church’s membership in the WCC. After Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine earlier this year, Sauca sent a letter to the Orthodox leader urging him to help facilitate a cease-fire. But Kirill instead repeatedly voiced support for the invasion, sparking calls to expel the Russian Orthodox Church from WCC membership.

Sauca and other WCC leaders eventually rejected the idea, keeping the ROC in its fold. WCC members published a statement at its assembly in September denouncing the war, but Ukrainian observers at the gathering criticized it as weak.

Sauca reportedly referenced such concerns during his meeting with Kirill, making mention of “statements that condemn the war and violence which we made in our governing bodies — the statements which were elaborated with the participation of delegates from the Russian Orthodox Church.”

FESTIVAL OF JOY IN MONGOLIA

0

A festival of Joy as described by Franklin Graham just took place all the way in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia!

Franklin told the crowd that what makes Mongolia special is the people, and he loved to be there again.

Preaching to the gathered crowd, Rev Franklin said so many people are searching and have an emptiness that they can’t find a way to fill—they don’t even know what they’re searching for. But God loves us and wants a relationship with us. He’s the only one who can fill that void in our lives.

It was thrilling to see hundreds of people of all ages respond to God’s invitation to repent of their sins and put their faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).
