Franklin Graham’s Gospel Tour ends London

0

Franklin Graham, the evangelist is bringing the Gospel message to London with musicians CeCe Winans and Michael W. Smith. Local believers hope God will use the singing and preaching of His Word to draw even more Brits to Himself.

“If ever the U.K. needed the message of the Good News of Jesus Christ, it is now,” said Rev. Paul James, senior pastor of London’s Harrow International Christian Centre. “The nation has been gripped with sorrow and the pain of loss. Many have lost hope, and they are filled with anxiety and worry over the direction the world is heading.”

“The answer can only be found in Jesus Christ,” the local pastor continued, “and we look forward to hearing Franklin Graham share the most important message the world will ever hear.”

Believers representing over 1,000 churches have attended preparation events, getting trained by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) to share their faith and invite neighbors to the final God Loves You Tour stop. As an added bonus, they’ve been working and praying alongside people of various races and denominations—as London is the most ethnically diverse region in England and Wales.

This mobilization of believers is not just for one night. Franklin Graham said this is an “endeavor to reach another generation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Would you pray Saturday’s event leads Londoners to a lasting and living relationship with Christ?

Oral Roberts University hosts first ever Metaverse Webinar

0

Christian media agency BMCFerrell and Oral Roberts University hosted the first-ever Christian Metaverse Webinar on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A panel of six media and technology experts discussed and answered the hot question of the day for church leaders: “How can the church glorify God in the metaverse?”

Their overall reply: “Come and see!”

And that’s exactly what many churches from around the United States and abroad did! The insightful, hour-long session provided viewers with wisdom and understanding on the benefits of using the metaverse to tell others about Jesus.

“This virtual universe is given to us to communicate the gospel, the Word of God, and glorify God,” said Ferrell. “The psalmist said, ‘Ask for the nations and I will give you them.’ When over 120 million are gathering in metaverse—that’s a nation.”

Ferrell believes through the effective use of technology and sound wisdom these platforms can be used to share Christ with others.

Ben Ferrell, CEO of BMCFerrell, believes all media is a gift from God and can be used for His glory.

Mike Mathews, ORU’s Vice President of Technology and Innovation, layed down a biblical view (or spiritual perspective) of the metaverse, enlightening viewers about what the metaverse truly is.

Justin Bieber Leans on Faith in Christ During Ongoing Bout with Facial Paralysis: ‘JESUS IS WITH ME’

0

Justin Bieber said Jesus is by his side as he continues to cope with the side effects of Ramsay Hunt syndrome.

In a video on Friday, the pop star asked for prayers after revealing his diagnosis which had caused paralysis to the right side of his face.

Bieber told his followers Monday that he’s making progress and he is comforted by knowing that God is in control.

“Wanted to share a little bit of how I’ve been feelin. Each day has gotten better and through all of the discomfort I have found comfort in the one who designed me. I’m reminded He knows all of me,” the 28-year-old wrote on an Instagram story.

“He know(s) the darkest parts of me that I want no one to know about and He constantly welcomes me into His loving arms. This perspective has given me peace during this horrific storm that I’m facing. I know this storm will pass but in the meantime, JESUS IS WITH ME,” he stated.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Ramsay Hunt syndrome “occurs when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears.”

The LGBT agenda in schools is just one reason people are choosing to homeschool. Kirk Cameron spoke to CBN’s Quick Start Podcast about it. Listen here:

Bieber and his wife Hailey have been through other health-related issues recently, with Hailey experiencing a shocking stroke.

In March, Hailey began feeling stroke-like symptoms and was hospitalized. Doctors determined that she had suffered a blood clot to her brain.

And CBN News previously reported that Justin was diagnosed with Lyme disease and has suffered from mental health problems.

Despite enduring Hailey’s stroke and Justin’s paralysis, and health scares that are quite unexpected among young people, Justin affirms that faith is what gives them peace.

“It’s gonna be okay and I have hope. I trust God and I trust that it’s all for a reason. I’m not sure what that is right now but in the meantime,” Justin declared.

Please continue to pray for the Biebers and for God’s hand to be upon them.

Former LGBT Individuals Celebrate Deliverance Through Christ During DC Freedom March: ‘There Is Hope’

0

A group of ex-LGBT Christians rallied in our nation’s capital recently to share their testimonies of how they’ve found healing and freedom in Jesus Christ.

As CBN News has reported, members of the Freedom March group have been touring the country for years, sharing the Good News with others, and offering hope to anyone else who might be seeking salvation from LGBT lifestyles.

This year’s event, which took place on Saturday, included live worship, testimonies, prayer, and a march from the Sylvan Theater to the Lincoln Memorial.

The Freedom March was started in 2018 by Jeffrey McCall, a former transgender person who has come to know Christ and His unfailing love.

“Jesus died for them and loves them and wants to give them a new life,” McCall told CBN News in his ongoing quest to offer hope to LGBTQ individuals.

The movement concentrates on liberation from LGBT lifestyles, as well as learning how to begin a relationship with our Lord and Savior.

“I continue to be amazed by how the march has grown and how it has created a safe place for former LGBTQ members to gather,” McCall told Charisma News last week. “I never foresaw how the Freedom March attendees would become such a close family of believers. We love each other and we love our common goal of sharing Jesus’ sacrifice and love to the LGBTQ community.”

The LGBT agenda in schools is just one reason people are choosing to homeschool. Kirk Cameron spoke to CBN’s Quick Start Podcast about it. Listen here:

Worshippers and speakers at the events acknowledge that God loves everyone, but that we must accept Him into our hearts before our lives can change.

“The reason I started the Freedom March was because I felt like all of these stories of people that left the LGBT lifestyle needed to be heard. It sends a statement and gets these stories out there,” McCall previously told CBN News.

“This movement has created a family of overcomers that understand and went through the same things, so it’s built this close-knit Christian family,” McCall stated. “It has brought light to this topic and it’s been talked about by people who actually lived through it.”

Some Freedom March participants have even shared stories about their tragic past before leaving the LGBT lifestyle and coming to Christ.

Luis Javier Ruiz and Angel Colon are survivors of the massacre at the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando in 2016, where 49 people were killed.

Colon was shot six times and survived, and Ruiz says he was nearly trampled to death as people fled the gunshots in the club.

“Just watching the news, as I was in the hospital bed in pain and seeing the names going by, God started working in my heart,” Colon previously told CBN News. “I could have been number 50, but now I’m alive and I have a chance to share my story with the world…that Jesus can change anyone.”

McCall says it’s important for people to know that the movement is not about suppressing anyone, rather it’s about God’s unwavering love for everyone.

“I really want to send the message to the LGBTQ community that there is hope. To say, ‘Hey, we were in the same lifestyle you were in and we came out of that and followed Christ and there’s a whole ‘nother life. A life that we didn’t even know was possible. A life with joy, and peace, and freedom,'” he said.

Freedom March has a second event planned on October 29 at Piedmont Park in Atlanta, Georgia.

Franklin Graham preaches to 68K on Rio de Janiero beach 48 years after father’s Brazil outreach

0

Nearly half a century after his father visited the region, the Rev. Franklin Graham held a historic outreach on the beaches of Brazil over the weekend, drawing thousands to hear the Gospel despite some rainy weather.

The Esperança Rio — or “Hope” Rio — event at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro resulted from years of prayer, planning and training. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) partnered with more than 4,000 churches to make it all come together.

Umbrellas in hand, almost 70,000 turned out to hear the 69-year-old Evangelical leader’s message of God’s love.

Graham told The Christian Post there’s a “great hunger for the Gospel, no question,” as evidenced by the commitment of the thousands who showed up in the rain.

“Some people got there at 2 o’clock in the afternoon and stood,” Graham said. “There weren’t seats. They stood on that beach waiting and the crowd just kept building.”

“People are searching for God and want to know how they have their sins forgiven.”

In his message, the 69-year-old Graham told the crowd: “The Bible says the value of the human soul is worth more than the entire world.” Let’s say you own all the real estate on Copacabana Beach; you own the hotels, the luxury apartments, and the beautiful restaurants. “Let’s say all of that was yours—your soul is worth far more than all of that—you have more value.”

For anyone who turns from their sins and puts their faith and trust in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, know this: God has forgiven your sins! As the Bible says, “He has cast them into the depths of the sea.”

Rio de Janeiro Gov. Cláudio Bomfim de Castro e Silva attended the event, while Brazilian President Jair Messias Bolsonaro sent a message of support to Graham said on Facebook.

“I appreciate that these leaders stand with the biblical definition of marriage and against abortion in their country,” he wrote.

Thousands of people reportedly indicated that they made decisions for Jesus Christ, according to Graham. Local churches are expected to follow up with the thousands who responded to the Gospel invitation.

BGEA discussed with local churches coming to Rio about seven years ago, Graham said, but the COVID-19 pandemic put those plans on hold.

When Brazil opened up earlier this year, Graham said they decided now was the time to go.

Graham’s visit came around 48 years after his father, evangelist Billy Graham, visited Maracanã Stadium in 1974 to hold a five-day crusade event. On the final night, Graham drew an estimated 225,000 people, which at the time was the largest crowd to attend an evangelistic service in the Western Hemisphere, according to BGEA.

After Brazil, Graham is set to return to the United Kingdom for the closing night of the four-city “God Loves You” Tour–UK, a free event at ExCeL London on July 16 featuring musical performances from CeCe Winans and Michael W. Smith.UnmuteAdvanced SettingsFullscreenPauseUp Next

The tour visited several cities last month, including South Wales, Sheffield and Liverpool, where the city’s mayor called for removing bus ads promoting the event.

Critics of the tour — most notably Liverpool Mayor Steve Rotheram — have called Graham a “known hate preacher” due to his opposition to gay marriage and radical Islam.

According to Graham, about 50 demonstrators in Liverpool during his last visit were Satanists, one of which was dressed like the devil.

“They cursed the name of Jesus and then went on,” he said.

Graham says the U.K. controversy is mainly based “on a few people who object to me saying marriage is between a man and a woman.”

“And as a result of saying that, they accuse me of hate speech,” he said. “They label you with a very offensive term like ‘hate preacher,’ when in fact I’m not sharing a message of hate but love, that God loves us.

“I don’t change the message. I don’t back away from sharing the Gospel, and we certainly don’t preach hate.”

Graham said his father was asked not to return to the U.K. after visiting in the 1940s. And when Parliament tried to ban him, he arrived by boat.

Just as the message of forgiveness of sins through faith in Christ was a source of controversy then, Graham says today is no different.

“The controversy isn’t me. It’s the message that I preach,” he said. “Jesus Christ has always been controversial.”

Christians urged to open food pantries as cost of living rises

0

Christians are being urged to open more food pantries as new figures reveal that over three-quarters of British adults are said to be worried about the cost of living.

Those most concerned include parents with children aged four and under.

Data from the Office for National Statistics suggests 60-percent are spending less on non-essentials, with 41-percent cutting back on their regular food shop.

Almost half believe they won’t be able to put any money into savings over the next year.

Niall Cooper, Director of Church Action on Poverty told Premier there is a lot churches can do to help: “I think the first thing is to be attentive to what’s going on in even in our own congregations, and more widely in our friends and neighbours and broader community.

“We’re working with increasing numbers of churches that are setting up local pantries, which are member based food clubs that enable people to access good food on an ongoing basis and save money.

“Which is the key part of it now, it’s 15 pounds every time they visit their pantry and that can be a huge difference to enabling families to get access to good food, but also to save money on their bills.

“We’ve got 70 local pantries in the network and we’re looking to expand that work with other churches to grow that network.

“Our goal is 200 pantries, but that’s not going to happen overnight. That’s going to take time. So there are practical things that churches can do.”

Speaking about the (ONS) figures, Cooper said he is not surprised: “It’s what we’ve been hearing for weeks and months that the increases in the prices of basic essentials, food, fuel, petrol, these are all now coming through and having an impact.

“I think what’s most concerning for me is the impact it’s going to have on people that were already struggling to keep their heads afloat and for parents with young children.

“Struggling to feed their children has got to be a priority, and too often, that means the parents themselves go without food, and the children suffer.

“It’s only going to get worse as the pressures of inflation build up.”

Churches urged to play central role in combatting cruelty as child abuse rises by a quarter

0

The number of cases of child abuse has risen by a quarter over the last year; it’s thought churches could play a central role in combatting cruelty.

The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) is urging the government to invest more funding in the early prevention of child abuse.

It comes after the organisation reviewed data from police forces and found over 26-thousand cases of adults neglecting, mistreating, or assaulting children.

On average, the organisation sees around 72 reports a day in the UK alone.

Sam Tarling is a social worker and consultant in the field. As a practicing Christian, she says people of faith need to be at the front and centre of combatting child mistreatment.

She told Premier Christian News: “It’s about community for me. I believe in doing church; I’m not somebody that kind of just looks at church as going on a Sunday.

“I believe, absolutely, that we are in a position where that early help can be really helpful.

“I also think that communities like churches are often much more able to reach people and give a message that is heard that often statutory agencies can’t do.

“I’m very cautious of saying that I’m social worker, because of how that is potentially perceived, and so as a professional working in that industry, there’s often some challenges around people listening or hearing what I’m saying.

The church can be really impactful in terms of the support that they give and the kind of messaging they give, but I also think that there are amazing projects within kind of church communities.”

As the cost of living rises, three quarters of people have reported that they’re worried about making ends meet.

Although there is a correlation between poverty and abuse, the two do not necessarily go hand in hand.

Sam is urging people not to dismiss themselves as abusive or neglectful parents for going through financial hardship, encouraging them to lean on the church.

She continued: “I want families to hear that if they’re struggling financially, that does not mean that they are neglecting their children.

“That means they are struggling financially.”

“If they’re making choices having to go to food banks, that is not neglect.”
