If God Is For You

0
When I first left brother Copeland’s organization in the ‘70s, and Carolyn and I launched out into our own ministry, we hit the ground running! I had been in my own ministry for about two years when we experienced a mountain of financial problems.

The devil knocked the props right out from under us. Up to that point, we hadn’t struggled financially. Our ministry was young, but it was flourishing. But things started looking pretty bad. Suddenly, it seemed like our whole ministry was going to come crashing down.

As I was in my bedroom praying about this, fear kept trying to rise up on the inside of me. The devil told me, “You failed in your business, and you’re going to fail in your ministry. You always get up to this point and then you hit rock bottom. You did it in business and you’re going to do it in ministry.”

I am telling you that fear tried to grip me through these negative thoughts, but I knew enough about the Word to cast down those imaginations. But just as soon as I would cast them down, they would come back again. So I kept on rebuking them, and I kept praying in the Holy Spirit, but I kept hearing the devil calling me a failure. “You’re a failure! This is as far as you’re going to go. I’m going to take everything you’ve got.” He kept going on and on and on.

But, at some point, he called me a failure one too many times.

Suddenly coming out of me was this righteous indignation, and I knew it wasn’t just my voice but the voice of the Holy Spirit. I heard the Holy Spirit say, “You want to talk about failure, let’s talk about you, Satan!” The Holy Spirit, through me, started telling the devil how he got kicked out of heaven; how he was defeated at the Cross; and how he was stripped of the keys of death, hell and the grave. And then I’ll never forget this, I said, “Now, Satan, we’ve talked about your failure, now let’s talk about your future! That ain’t too bright either! You’re headed for the Lake of Fire. And guess where I’m headed?” I’m headed for victory!

I came out of that room with a shout in my heart and confidence in My God’s ability to see me through. And let me tell you what, God met my financial need during that season, and He’s been doing it ever since. And He wants to do the same for YOU!

Why did I tell you that story today? Because I want you to get tired of the devil calling you a failure. I want you to get tired of the lies that he is trying to get you to believe. It’s time for you to get mad at the devil and tell the devil about all his failures. Quit listening to him talk about yours. You are not a failure! You are a child of the Most High God. You have God Almighty on your side! And if God be for you, who can be against you?

Confession: “If God is for me, nobody can be against me. I am a child of the Most High God!”

Every Decision Counts Pt 3

0
The power to create a massively successful year is in your hands!
You decide. You choose. You control your destiny by controlling your decisions…

One thought, one decision at a time.

This is what commanding your morning is all about; it’s about you taking command of your life one thought, one word, one decision at a time.

When you command your morning, you will change the quality of your life.

The Commanding Your Morning Daily Devotional teaches you to begin your day proactively from a posture of authority and declarative prayer.

The Psalmist declared, “My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises” (Psalm 119:148).

What you decree before you go to bed at night and continue to declare as you rise in the morning will keep the unseen realm moving on your behalf.

Learn to start your day with power and end it with blessing.

When you employ this strategy, you activate a twenty-four-hour anointing—an anointing that brings all the elements surrounding your life into divine alignment with God’s purpose for you.

When you change your words, you change your reality!

Human Nature

0
Who so trusteth in the Lord, happy is he. – Proverbs 16:20

There is much in our nature that perplexes us. Many people are disturbed as they confront the troubling riddle of their own existence.

They are bewildered by their proneness to sin and evil. They quake and tremble at the thought of their inability to cope with their own lives.

Christ can give you satisfying answers to such questions as “Who am I?” “Why was I born?” “What am I doing here?” “Where am I going?”

All of the great questions of life can be measured when you come by faith to Jesus Christ and receive Him as your Lord.

Let Him be your Pilot.

He can take away the worry from your life.

Do Human Rights Replace Christian Standards?

0
‘Human rights’ have been substituted for Christian standards. ‘Rights’ represent only the personal views of a bench of judges of doubtful moral outlook. Their judgments have no ultimate sanction and are putting law and justice in jeopardy.

The fear of God has evaporated. The Creator set goodness in the world, and inspired us to put our reliance upon Him and to live by the immense fact that He loves us.

Secularism knows nothing about love – only sex. Fixation on sex as a major subject of public interest corrupts and fouls the mouths of millions. ‘These are your gods, O Israel’ (Exodus 32:4, 8) Eros is one of the gods of the third millennium.

True progress is to know God. Science has no substitute for love. Adam and Eve were primitives but lived like gods walking with God. That is life as God intended it.

God who created all things must have been an immensely wonderful Friend. God has pushed hard for us to appreciate what He is and to understand His feelings toward us.

The Son of God tracked across the universe to this one planet to introduce Himself – He is that keen. He loves us and came to save us. Thank you, Jesus. Please share and be blessed.

Divorce

0
“And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry an-other, committeth adultery against her.“ – Mark 10:11

Many do not understand the stance of the Lord Jesus on divorce. The Lord says that it is sin to put away your spouse and to marry another. There is a reason for this. Many of the problems encountered by one marriage are encountered by another.

When taken over by deception, many spouses become discontented with each other. You have a husband who feels there is a better woman out there. There are men who imagine that there would be a more exciting, less quarrelsome, less moody, less emotional lady out there. This husband is affected by delusions.

Deluded women are constantly discontent with their husbands. They wish they had a more charming, caring, suave, smooth-talking gentleman. They super-imagine what it would be like to be married to such people.

This is why Jesus said it was a sin to put away your wife and marry another. Jesus knew that you would only marry another of the same kind! If you are a woman, you would only remarry another “unemotional”, “non-communicating”, “liking too much sex” male! The divorced man would only remarry another weaker vessel, another of the same kind!

What is worrying is when you think you have a strange or deficient spouse. A little reading will establish for you the fact that you simply have another of the same kind! May you have a spirit of contentment and peace!

A Sanguine Wife

0

Strengths of a Sanguine Wife

1. Sena Sanguine is adorable and popular––she was probably a cheerleader in school.

2. She is the easiest personality to spot in a crowd––she talks a great deal, usually laughs loudly, and has many gestures, like waving her arms in the air.

3. She is always in the middle of the action, mixing and mingling with people, and entertaining them with grand stories that may bear little or no resemblance to the truth.

4. Other personalities watching her wonder if she ever gets tired.

5. She is good at networking––she is relationship-wise and knows virtually everyone.

6. She’s everyone’s best friend and sincerely loves them all. However, she has an extra special place for friends who adore and idolize her. She thrives on compliments.

7. She doesn’t get worried when she is not worshipped. When her feelings are hurt she doesn’t hold a grudge.

8. She is quick to apologize when she realizes she’s done wrong.

9. She’s spontaneous and excitable and can decide on fun on the spur of the moment.

10. She’s a talkative––she is usually a good speaker or great teacher because she can talk for hours on a topic she has little or not much information about.

11. She’s the life of the party––she likes to throw parties and to attend them. At the party all action revolves around her. She usually arrives late at the party, because she either loses the directions to the party or forgets about it.

12. Her primary goal in life is to have fun. When things get too serious, she tries to lighten up her environment.

13. She always expects the best from people and from life.

14. Motivator––can motivate others to action and is fabulous at dreaming up wild schemes for someone else to implement. She can convince normally sane people to do things they wouldn’t normally do.

15. She is usually fond of bright colours.

16. Creative––she is a very creative dresser and likes new hairstyles and colours. Her creativity may extend to baking, decorating, and entertaining. She is good at inventing homes, crafts and projects for kids.

17. Accepting––she lives by the principle “live and let live”. She doesn’t spend her time thinking about what is wrong with people she meets. She rather focuses on what is right about people and about life.

18. She accepts the fact that everyone has faults and everyone makes mistakes. She has no desire to judge others and this attitude makes her popular.

19. She has a seemingly childlike faith and trust in human beings––she always believes the best about others.

20. She rarely spreads vicious rumours although she likes to talk. She easily entrusts her life to God and is therefore seldom plagued by worry and fear as the other temperaments. She lives one day at a time.

Weaknesses of a Sanguine Wife

1. Too Talkative––often wonders why everyone else is quiet all the time. Because she doesn’t pay adequate attention to details she may say the wrong things and embarrass those close to her.

2. She tends to exaggerate for effect and therefore is seen as not telling the truth.

3. Permissive––she may allow her children to behave anyhow and may not take danger signs in marriage and life in general seriously.

4. She tends to avoid confrontation––since her goal in life is to have fun, she puts off dealing with problems.

5. Forgetful––they do not remember appointments and schedules.

6. Unreliable––she often gets excited about a role but is not around when it is being implemented.

7. She lacks attention to detail––she makes commitments without thinking about what it will take to follow through. She leaves a trail of broken promises.

8. Fussy––she fusses and complains when she has to work a little. She doesn’t like to work.

9. Messy Housekeeper––she never seems to know where anything is because she is disorganized. She has a hard time finding her curlers, make-up bag, keys, etc. She rarely has anything clean and tidy. She doesn’t enjoy cleaning the house and usually has an untidy bedroom.

10. Overwhelming––some people can’t stand sanguines. They find them too overwhelming.

11. Seems phony––other temperaments may misunderstand her motives. She can appear phony even when she has good intentions.

15 Practical Steps When Preparing A Sermon

0

1. Panic less. Pray more.

The thought of starting to prepare another message may make you feel anxious, especially if you’ve only just finished preparing and delivering your last sermon, however rather than the roster causing you to panic and stressing, instead let it drive you to seek God even more for the revelation and wisdom that only He provides.

2. Study.

Study the text. Study with the God thought you received at the front of your mind. As you start to prepare a sermon it’s easy to become distracted by all the new different thoughts that can lead to other thoughts – suddenly you don’t know what the message is about, your head so full of different topics and themes. When you start to feel stuck or unsure – ask yourself what was the initial God revelation?

3. Clarify what do you want people to know and what do you want people to do?

A test of how well you’ve prepared your message is the clarity you have regarding exactly what you want your audience to know when you’ve finished, and even more importantly what you’re expecting them to do differently now with this information in their minds.

4. Think about who’s going to be in the room.

When preparing a message it is easy to fall into a trap of unconsciously thinking that everyone in your audience is in the same season as you and therefore is going through what you’re going through.

So how will your sermon help someone who’s in a different season? What will this say to the family with young kids, the person who has been in church faithfully for years, the student in College, the person going through a divorce or in the midst of a financial crisis?

5. Craft transitional statements.

Without intentional transitional statements, moving from one paragraph or thought to the next can feel clunky, like in a car when you try to shift gears without using the clutch. A transitional statement such as “…isn’t that true in life…” or “…don’t we all feel like that at times…” can ensure that your line of thinking smoothly flows from one thing to the next.

6. Work hard on application.

As preachers we are required to show people how they might be able to take the Word of God they heard on Sunday, and apply it to their lives on Monday. Ask yourself how will this message affect their everyday life – when they are at work, within their marriage, in their business. What is the application of my revelation?

7. Script your sermon.

While everyone is wired differently and many great preachers are able to write down a few notes on the back of a napkin, it is highly recommended to write out your sermon in advance word for word. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you read it out word for word, but during the preparation stage, it clearly reveals how your thoughts flow together and the specific words you want to use for key sentences.

Our global Senior Pastor, Brian Houston, says to our team that, “you should preach from notes you’d be proud to show your Senior Pastor.” The idea being that your notes most likely reveal the investment you’ve made into your message preparation.

8. Record yourself and listen back to it.

This is valuable not only after you’ve preached the message but even before it. If you’re able to put aside the time why not record yourself as you read your notes out-loud, and as you listen back to yourself consider how your message would land to those that are about to listen to it this Sunday.

9. Talk it through with someone.

It can be incredibly helpful to either chat through your ideas with someone trusted or even send over your notes in advance. Ask if there is anything that doesn’t make sense or that they would suggest doing differently.

10. Don’t try to hit a ‘grand slam’ every time you preach.

Perhaps you’re in a church where it feels like other preachers on your team always seem to conclude their sermons with the whole congregation on their feet in spontaneous applause as they respond to the power of the message. Discouraged?

It can be tempting to try and achieve the same result, but it’s critical to remove that pressure from yourself and simply be faithful to who God has called you to be, and ultimately focus on helping people fall more in love with Jesus.

Which leads us to…

11. Focus less on impressing people and more on helping people.

12. Don’t just preach to the front row.

In a church with a healthy culture of leadership you expect and hope that your front row is engaged and leaning in as you preach. However, as you prepare, consider how your message might be received by those seated on the back rows – how will your message speak to and inspire them?

13. Speak from the heart and to the heart.

The most powerful preachers speak ‘from’ the heart and ‘to’ the heart. As you prepare – consider, what do you want people to think? What do you want people to feel? What do you want people to do? When you speak from the heart and to the heart it causes people to ‘feel’, which builds a bridge between simply thinking and taking action.

14. Inject yourself into your message.

As you prepare your message, don’t assume you need to mimic your favourite preacher in order to improve but rather focus on bringing who you are to the message. Over time you’ll grow in confidence and embrace your own uniqueness.

15. Keep Jesus the main character.

Whether you’re preaching from the Old or New Testament it is not only always possible, but always critical to find Jesus in the text. Our posture when preparing a sermon should always be to ensure that we step out of the spotlight and put Jesus in his rightful place.

Power Up Your Day!

0

“But as for me, I will sing each morning about your power and mercy.”
Psalm 59:16 TLB

We closed out 2016 at the End Your Year Strong Empowerment Summit with the theme “RESET”—as we prepared to reset the year and our lives with the dawn of 2017.

2017 is the year of New Beginnings—because this is what “17” in numerology represents: 1 plus 7 equals 8, and 8 is the number of “all things made new”…all things “reset” for a new beginning!

Today I want to talk to you about how to reset your day—each and every day.

Jumpstarting your personal empowerment begins with jumpstarting your day—it begins with you taking charge of your life by taking charge of your morning.

The most successful people have one thing in common—they maximize their mornings.

History makers, legacy builders, trendsetters, and wave makers front load their day with practices that yield the highest return spirit, soul, and body.

Only after they’ve invested in their being…
do the most successful people go out into the world and begin doing.

Jesus set an example by rising early to recharge: “Before the sun was up, Jesus went to a place where He could be alone” (Mark 1:35 NlV).

I challenge you to start your year strong by starting your day strong!

Create a special place where you can pull away and open your ears to receive instruction from God as Isaiah did:

“He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.”
Isaiah 50:4 NIV

This week, find a quiet spot free of distractions, clutter, or disorder—and then set your alarm just 15-30 minutes earlier than usual.

Plan and prepare the night before by turning off the TV (and computer), setting the timer on your coffee machine (or whatever helps you wake up), and then power down so you can power up early!

For the next week, see what happens as a result of “seeking first the Kingdom” (see Matt. 6:33) as you use the following steps as your guide:

  • Invite the Lord to empower your day: Ask the Holy Spirit to help you set your intention for the day and prioritize your efforts—ask Him to draw your attention to the things that matter most.
  • Begin with the end in mind: Think about where you want to be one week, one month, or one year from now. What small steps can you take today that will move you toward those goals?
  • Check your gauges: A healthy lifestyle includes time for work, rest, relationships, and exercise. Have you set aside time for each element in your day? If not, look ahead to work each of these key components into your schedule.

You could say that commanding your life starts with commanding your morning—it’s that first crucial step to taking charge of your day!
