Jesus came. “Joy to the world, the Lord is come”. Christmas Day.
The date does not matter, or the Gospels would have told us.
The heathen made some days very special for their heroes, festivals and gods. But the coming of Christ has obliterated all such glory and remembrance.
Every day is His. What is the fame of saints, gods, and great men compared to the glory of Christ? His day is acknowledged by nations that know little else about Him.
If any day has been marked for any other, He hallows it, even the most notorious.
The ancient Greeks kept up their wicked and blooded Dionysian traditions – but the name of Jesus has overcome all such calendar pollution.
