Colombian Senate Honors Evangelical Leader Lyda Elena Arias for Lifetime of Service

The Colombian Senate has recognized Pastor Lyda Elena Arias de García, president of the Evangelical Confederation of Colombia (CEDECOL), for her decades of Christian leadership and dedicated service to the nation. She received the Order for Women and Democracy “Policarpa Salavarrieta” during a ceremony held at the Senate headquarters on July 3.

The honor was presented through Resolution No. 026 of 2026 at the initiative of Senator Lorena Ríos Cuéllar and the Senate’s Legal Commission for Women’s Equity. The award recognizes Arias for her leadership, commitment to public service, and lasting contribution to Colombian society.

Following the ceremony, CEDECOL thanked God for the recognition and expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported the ministry throughout the years. The organization described the award as a reflection of faithful service, strong leadership, and an ongoing commitment to the Church and the nation.

Arias also expressed appreciation to Senator Lorena Ríos, her family, colleagues, and members of CEDECOL who have walked alongside her throughout her ministry. She said the recognition strengthens her commitment to continue serving God, the Church, and Colombia with integrity, love, and dedication.

Pastor Arias has served in ministry for more than 27 years. She leads the Christian Church Castillo de Oración y Milagros and has held several leadership positions within Colombia’s evangelical community before becoming president of CEDECOL.

CEDECOL represents churches, denominations, councils, and Christian organizations across Colombia. The organization actively promotes religious freedom, supports social initiatives, and encourages civic engagement among evangelical churches throughout the country.
