Thousands Say Yes To Christ In The Philippines

0

They sprang from their seats and streamed forward. Children and teens, parents and grandparents. Will Graham had just shared the Gospel and given them the opportunity to surrender their lives to Jesus—and they weren’t going to miss their chance.

Over the two-day Greater Pangasinan Celebration, nearly 7,000 people said yes to new life, hope and freedom with Jesus Christ. This number represented almost 20 percent of the 35,300 who attended Celebration events. The evangelistic outreach kicked off more than a week of Gospel preaching, which will culminate with the three-day Metro Manila Celebration with Will Graham, Feb. 15-17.

The event took place at the Narciso Ramos Sports Complex in the province of Pangasinan, which sits some 140 miles northwest of Manila, along the Lingayen Gulf. Pangasinan is the third largest province in the Philippine Archipelago, occupying more than 536,000 hectares of land, and is home to more than 2.6 million people. The province gets its name from its rich salt beds; pangasinan meaning “where salt is made.”

It is a bustling area, with bridges spanning marshes and ponds. The streets are crowded with roadside markets, pedestrians, dogs, motorbikes with side cars, and the ubiquitous Filipino Jeepneys (rebuilt and elongated—and often beautifully painted—jeeps that carry several people at a time, a form of mass transit that became popular following World War II).

In a place where many people are “religious,” Will Graham’s messages focused on man’s sinful nature and our eternal need for a relationship with Jesus Christ.

“Salvation is not a deed, a ritual or a church. Salvation is a Person, and His name is Jesus.” Will proclaimed. “Salvation is not based on good works. There’s nothing you can do to save yourself. Salvation comes by faith in Christ alone.”

A prayer volunteer named Jerick spoke with a young boy who had been invited to the Celebration by a Christian friend. The boy told Jerick that he was addicted to video games. “After I prayed for him, I was filled with joy because I did something that helped him to have more confidence that God was with him,” Jerick said. “The Lord will never leave him.”

As the stands continued to empty Sunday and thousands responded to the invitation to begin a relationship with Jesus, Myra Jalique looked on with awe. A pastor and missionary, she served as the liaison for the Celebration, working closely with the local government.

“I am just overwhelmed with joy. I can’t really explain it. Lord, thank You for the harvest,” she shared. “This is really what it’s about. I understand God’s mercy and grace that He’s bestowed on me, and I want it for our people.”

What Happened To The True Gospel?

Just a cursory glance through lives of the apostles in the scriptures will reveal a fundamental similarity – a deep passion for soul winning!

Fast forward, present day. Can the same be said of us? Unfortunately not. Passion is not absent, but the direction is generally different.

What happened to street evangelism – going to the highways and the by ways? What happened to crowds that gathered and were deeply convicted?

What happened to the fire and zeal that drove the ordinary Christian out there with the life altering message?

What happened to the true gospel?

A new dawn is here!

It is time to return to the ancient paths!

It is time to say with Paul ‘Woe is me if i preach not the gospel’

Let’s say with Nehemiah… ‘We will arise and build!’

Thank God for shameless preachers like Bishop Dag Heward-mills who are standing to proclaim the truth and stirring up the masses to do same!

‘Make Yourselves Saviours Of Men’ – that is the theme for the Harmattan Bible seminar going on at the Anagkazo Bible seminary, Mampong Akuapem.

Thousands were stirred up. Many were trained.

Multitudes have been sent out and by the power of the Spirit, many will be saved!

Professor Martey Condemns Violence During Ghana’s By Election

0

On my handing over as Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, I decided not to continue speaking on national issues as I was frequently doing while in office. This practice, I believe, is to allow and give the incumbent Moderator the full space to represent the church’s views on issues of national development and democratic values.

I have always believed that leadership is like a relay race, and when one gets the baton one runs as fast as one could until he hands over the baton to another person. As soon as he hands over the baton, he then stops running and continues to cheer to victory. That is why I have restricted myself, since handing over as Moderator of the oldest and continuously existing church in this country, in actively speaking in public functions where my views on national issues may be sought.

However, I have to painfully depart from this stance because of the unfortunate and violent attacks that occurred at the by-election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency. The violence and insecurity that day ridicule the democratic credentials of this Nation and I am still shocked at the presence of masked heavily-built men under the guise of National Security at some polling stations. The participation of these men at the by-election was unnecessary and no amount of security explanation can justify such a cruel and monstrous display of security.

Are we ridiculing the rule of law in this Country? How could Members of Parliament—also leaders of this Country—be assaulted for no crime committed and guns shot in private house on an election day to disrupt voting at the La Bawaleshie Presbyterian Polling Station near the house where the guns were fired? When good people keep quiet, evil people take over.

Enough is enough! We are not in a jungle state. I join many Ghanaians in totally condemning this barbaric act of violence which has dented our democratic credentials as a nation.

Experience has demonstrated that investigations into such wicked and dastardly acts never see the light of day due to political interference and many people, including myself, have little faith in the current criminal investigation system to do any good job. Security in this country has been too politicised. Those in security must not be controlled by political parties.

I call on the President of the nation to act swiftly to end all acts of vigilantism in this country. I want to believe that the President’s support for a speedy investigation into this matter will lead to a conclusive investigation so that the perpetrators of this crime will be punished.

There is the urgent need to assess the current security structure and leadership in the security sector since events over the last year and the current event reflect a lack of tact and professionalism shown by most security chiefs and security-related ministers.

We must protect the stability of this country with patriotism and employ modern approaches to security and, I daresay, that if the current evil trend of party vigilantism is not axed, the nation will greatly suffer from the activities of these bullish deviants, employed by some political parties.

All Ghanaians must not be complacent, especially those who have been given the mandate to govern; and we must not take any peaceful atmosphere in the country for granted. This country is ours! Such a lawless act must never happen again to destroy our country. God bless Ghana.

Christ’s Family – Reinhard Bonnke

0

Jesus was born into a family, but it was not the family of Joseph and Mary only that He came for. He was with them, worked for them, but that was not the real business of His life. He lived for and loved the family of His Father – the whole human race.

Christ gave up his earthly family and made everybody in earth His family. So, He called Himself the Son of Man, but others called Him the Son of Mary.

IN THAT CASE our true family is with Him. It is our relationship to Christ that really matters.

Marriage is a picture of it, for a man and woman marry and they have new family connections, in-laws, and especially with one another.

“For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife, and the two will become one flesh”.

When we commit our lives to Christ He commits Himself to us.

God bless you today.

When God Speaks – Reinhard Bonnke

0

Elisha was a man of God. He did not speak with a flash of ecstasy. Ten correct guesses make no man a prophet. He was God’s appointed and anointed representative in Samaria.

The name Elisha stood for the name of the Lord. As a sign and symbolic act the prophet had offered his oxen as a sacrifice and used the plough as wood for the altar. He gave up the means of his own livelihood to God. From then on he was responsible TO the Lord and the Lord was responsible FOR Elisha.

The Syrian army heard sounds of a great host coming to rescue Samaria, and they fled in panic and left all their stores behind (2Kings7). The Word of the Lord had performed this.

WHEN GOD SPEAKS IT IS AN EVENT WHICH SETS HISTORY IN MOTION.

It is no use ignoring it, or we do so at our cost. The Gospel is the Word of the Lord, just as much as the word that Elisha spoke. In fact the Gospel is just as much the Word of God as the Word that made the heavens and the earth. God upholds all things by the Word of His power.

The gospel announces His love, and His love is not a mere emotion or declaration, but an unchangeable act, the act of Calvary. The gospel is “not in word only but in power”.

“The Gospel IS THE POWER OF GOD…” because it is the Word of the Lord.

Be blessed.

Be Dedicated: David Ibiyeomie

0

To be dedicated means to be unreservedly committed. It is deadness to self. Dedication means to be sold out to a cause in life. It is at the point of your dedication that God will meet and promote you. When you are dedicated to an assignment, you are on a highway to distinction.

Only pride makes people not to work because they consider a certain kind of job to be demeaning. Stop begging about, go and work because there is nothing noble about begging; it is not dignifying. If you are a barber, be sold out. Sit down in your shop and be dedicated to the job and you will soon make a mark. Dominion is a function of dedication. When you are dedicated, all your senses come alive.

Do you want dominion? Do you want to make news? Be sold out to that assignment in your hand. If you are not succeeding at your job, you are not serious. You do not do a job because you are being monitored by someone; you do it because you are sold out to that cause. If you need to be supervised to produce result, then you are not sold out to that thing. Only dedicated people excel in their pursuit. The best of ideas keep flowing to you when you are dedication.

Dedication is an attitude that must be in place before success can be in view. Do not say, “If I had a big shop, I will do better”. That is not true! If you are not dedicated to selling little things spread out on a table, even if they put five million Naira in your hand, you will still make nothing out of it. Why? You are not dedicated. Sit down at your trade with dignity.

Go there every morning with a smile on your face and give it all it takes; then watch and see if it will not produce for you. No one ever gets to make any meaning in life going about town. Only a jobless man goes about on Monday morning, visiting people on their jobs to chat or talk about trivial things.

Dedication is the choice of the wise, so be dedicated. If you want to exercise dominion in life, as a Christian, do something, and be dedicated to it. Be sold out to it. Titles do not make people; dedication does. The world celebrates impact not title. No matter what title you hold right now, if you do not have impact, once you die, you are quickly forgotten.

There is no substitute for dedication. It is a winning attitude. It motivates you for excellence. You cannot be dedicated without being creative; you cannot be productive and not be successful. Many want to get rich without working for it. Any Wealth you get without working for it will soon diminish.

Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV) Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Whatever your hands find to do, be dedicated to it and you will excel. When you are given an assignment, face it. You have a job to do, face it. If you keep at that job with all your might, God will soon promote you to that one you desire.

Luke 19:17 (KJV) And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

Your dedication will bring you amazing profit in the name of Jesus! May the Lord bless the work of your hands! Go and begin to make news in your world in Jesus precious name- Amen!

God bless you.

Take The Victory

0

Victory is yours for the taking! Think about the battles that you are facing right now. Perhaps it is sickness, financial problems, problems in your home, or problems at your job. Write them down.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.

II Timothy 1:7, NIV

You have a choice to make concerning these battles. You can throw up your hands in despair and give up. You can stay on the defensive and keep struggling. OR … you can TAKE THE VICTORY that belongs to you!

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

I Corinthians 15:58, NIV

God has not planned for you to be beaten down, discouraged, or defeated by Satan. He has made it possible for you—through Jesus Christ—to CONQUER an enemy who has already been defeated!

The reason that many Christians are living in defeat in so many areas of their life is that they are going into battle and facing Satan’s attacks on their finances, home, family, body, loved ones, and mind without the proper ammunition!

There is only one thing powerful enough to break Satan’s hold and give you total victory. It is the infallible, unchangeable, impregnable Word of God! Many Christians today have the idea that they can face Satan and defeat him based on the strength of their faith. They have faith in their own faith instead of faith in God’s Word and in Christ’s victory over Satan.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Ephesians 6:10, NIV

It is not your faith that wins the victory. First, it is not your faith at all. Faith is a gift of God. No matter how hard you may try, you cannot produce enough faith to defeat Satan. So quit trying, and begin to walk in the victory that God has provided for you!

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Christ has already won the victory. Your faith in HIS VICTORY over Satan is what will enable you to take the victory that belongs to you. When you stand there, toe to toe, with Satan, you must not stand there in the strength of your own faith. You must stand secure in the knowledge (based on God’s Word) that Jesus Christ has already defeated Satan.

He faced every temptation, every attack of Satan, and was victorious. And, though His death and resurrection, He has already rendered Satan powerless in your life. Your victory over the circumstances that you are now facing was won at Calvary.

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

II Corinthians 1:20

I want you to know and understand this powerful position of victory that is yours in Jesus Christ. I want you to have a revelation within your spirit that as Christ (in the form of human flesh) faced Satan and defeated him, you can be victorious over Satan in every circumstance, trial, and temptation that you may face.

IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO TAKE THE VICTORY!

Say this faith declaration out loud:

In my covenant relationship with God, I am rich and have all that I need and more. God has given me everything I need. I stand in faith and in His power to overcome. I proclaim victory over my life.

Scripture Reading:

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.

II Timothy 1:7, NIV

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

I Corinthians 15:58, NIV

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Ephesians 6:10, NIV

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

A Third Generation Of The Graham Family To Share The Gospel In The Filipino Capital

0

Revival came to the Philippines in 1977, when Billy Graham preached the Gospel to more than 412,000 people in the capital city of Manila. Churches around the country started growing and bearing spiritual fruit.

Then, in 2006, those churches experienced unprecedented unity when Franklin Graham shared a message of hope, love and salvation with more than 317,000 at the Metro Manila Festival.

This year, Will Graham will continue his family’s legacy in the Philippines by sharing the Good News at the Metro Manila Celebration on Feb. 15-17. Not only will he preach in the same city as his father and grandfather before him, but from the exact same stage—the Quirino Grandstand within Rizal Park.

“[The churches are] really excited here, not only to see people come to Christ but for the historical significance for Manila—to have all three generations preach here in the same place,” said Jeffrey Ferris, director of the 2019 Manila Celebration.

During Franklin Graham’s 2006 visit to Manila, more than 33,000 people responded to the Good News of Jesus Christ.

While preparing for the Celebration, Ferris has met many Filipinos whose lives radically changed during the evangelistic events in 1977 and 2006. Many people who made decisions for Christ after hearing Billy and Franklin Graham preach are now pastors and leaders in their community, including the 2019 Celebration Chief of Staff James Tioco. He came forward to receive Christ in 1977 with more than 22,000 others.

Even though the Metro Manila Celebration will be the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s (BGEA) third evangelistic event in the city, preparations haven’t been without their challenges.

Manila, and the greater metropolitan area known as Metro Manila, is one of the most populous urban areas in the world. As the country’s center of culture, education and government, the region contains some of the world’s worst traffic. Ferris said it can take three hours to travel just seven miles in the city.

To allow the greatest number of Filipinos to hear Will Graham’s message about the hope of Jesus Christ, the BGEA split the evangelistic event across two weekends at two different locations—just north of the city in the Pangasinan region (Feb. 9-10) and in the middle of the bustling city at Rizal Park (Feb. 15-17).

Believers in the Philippines are praying the Holy Spirit will again draw thousands to hear about a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Buses will shuttle people across the Metro Manila region to the three-day event in the capital city. The Celebration’s transportation committee is collaborating with a team from Operation Andrew—a discipleship tool that encourages believers to build relationships with non-believers—to make sure at least 50 percent of the people on those buses are non-believers.

“If a believer does get on a bus, they have to bring an unsaved friend. That’s their ticket,” Ferris explained.

Through Operation Andrew, local believers from more than 2,000 churches have been praying for 100,000 unsaved friends and family members to hear the Gospel message and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
